Premier League: Manchester United vs. Aston Villa

In Champions League, Football on December 9, 2009 at 16:44

By Joe, www.Bettingexpert.com

Can the subs once again help Manchester United out when they are called upon?

Manchester United are back on the Premiership trail as they are two points from league leaders, Chelsea, when they face Aston Villa on Saturday afternoon at Old Trafford. The reigning champions are set to close the gap between them and Chelsea but they will have to do it without several key members of the first team squad. Aston Villa will be its full strengthen as they travel north to face the Red Devils.

Manchester United was once 5 points away from Chelsea until last weekend when they pulverized Portsmouth away 4-0 while Manchester City did United a favor by beating Chelsea. Their midweek result in the Champions League was also positive as they saw off Wolfsburg 4-1 with Michael Owen hitting a hat trick.  Manager Alex Ferguson will have to deal with the fact that he will be without Wes Brown, Gary Neville, Nemanja Vidic, Rio Ferdinand, Edwin van der Sar, Owen Hargreaves, Da Sila, Jonny Evans and John O’Shea.

Aston Villa are currently 5th in the table with 8 points behind Manchester United. The Villains are on a mission to fight for the top placing that will give them the chance to play Champions League next season. It is vital for Martin O’Neill’s men to come up with the goods at Old Trafford. They are boost with players like John Carew and Stuart Downing being available again. Vila’s fan will be happy to know that Carew was the only player on target with penalties last weekend 3-0 win against Hull City.

Aston Villa have never won a match against Manchester United since the Premier League was established. This could work in Manchester United’ s favor as its most likely that they will have to field some midfielder veterans in the heart of defense when they face Villa. A stalemate could be worth the punt while an away win would be a cheeky bet for those of you wanting more.

Champions League: Inter Milan vs. FC Rubin Kazan

In Champions League, Football on December 7, 2009 at 10:32

By Joe, www.Bettingexpert.com

Eto could be the man that will take Inter Milan into the last 16.

The other Milano side also needs a win to qualify for the next round of the Champions League knockout stages. Inter Milan will be hosting the Russian champions, Rubin Kazan, to the final match day decider for the second qualifying place in group F on Wednesday evening at the San Siro. Both teams are well aware of the situation and only victory would guratennee the safe passage to the next round.

Inter incurred a 2-1 defeat against Juventus away last weekend and gave way for both AC Milan and Juventus to close the gap at the top of Serie A. The Italian champion knows that a defeat or any draw above 2-2 score line will effectively put them out of the Champions League and into the Europa League. Maicon will return after being ban against Juventus and Eto will proable start as he scored in the weekend. This is the test that Jose Mourinho loves to prey on and he usually comes out on top unless it’s the Redmen from Liverpool.

Rubin Kazan won their domestic league last weekend and it looks like they are well rested for this ultimate tie against Inter. It will be their first time travelling to Italy facing one of the best teams in this tournament. If Rubin Kazan are to qualify then they know they have to win at all cost. It is their debut season in Champions League and what a way to start it by qualifying for the last 16. Although, their last outing against Dynamo Kiev ended 0-0 and that’s a result that will do no good for the Russian champion. Kazan will have to find their winning form on the night like the night they beat reigning champions, Barcelona.

Kazan are very unpredictable. They are a sort of team that is up for the challenge when it comes to big teams in Europe. The Russian will throw everything on Jose Mourinho and his men but would that be enough? Inter are favorites, no doubt, and they will dominate at the San Siro, question for them is that whether they are ready to be counter attacked by the quick pace Russians?

Champions League seven times winner, AC Milan, will need to do something drastic in order to go out of the tournament. The Italian will find a way to win the game and with their current form, it could be an easy Tuesday evening work done in the capital of Switzerland. Zurich will play their part and hopefully give a good show for their fans as a sending off for their support. Milan are favorites to win it.

Champions League: FC Zurich vs. AC Milan

In Champions League, Football on December 6, 2009 at 11:45

By Joe, www.Bettingexpert.com

Can this man take AC Milan to the next round? The Brazilian has been playing some great football of the late.

The final match day of the Champions League and Group C will need the final day to decide who goes through to the last knockout stages.  Zurich are out of the Champions League so nothing much to play for but pride. On the other hand, AC Milan have the upper hand qualify as second in the group. The Italian needs a win to safeguard their route to the last 16 while Zurich will have to play second fiddle all night.

FC Zurich are bottom of the Group C and their European campaign will end on Tuesday as they host the Italian giant, AC Milan. Their run up to Match day 6 has seen a bit of twist in the Swiss League. The weekend saw them losing 1-0 in the 218 Zurich Derby to Grasshopper Club away from home. The defeat has given FC Zurich further headaches in their league position as they are in 7th place, far from the form they showed last season. Never the less, they did somehow produce one of the shocking results in Champions League in Match day 1. Zurich pulled a 1-0 winner at the San SIro against Milan and Hannu Tihinen will hope to emulate that special night on Tuesday.

Ever since the defeat to Zurich at the San SIro, Milan have invented themselves and gone strength to strength. They are currently 2nd in the Serie A and coming off a 3-0 win against Sampdoria at home last Saturday. That game virtually ended after 24 minutes of play as the Rosserneri and Ronldinho was substituted in order to save his energy for Tuesday encounter. Milan needs a win to secure passage to next round but a draw could be enough, depending on how Marseille do against Real Madrid. Milan could be without G. Gattuso as he is ruled doubtful.

Champions League seven times winner, AC Milan, will need to do something drastic in order to go out of the tournament. The Italian will find a way to win the game and with their current form, it could be an easy Tuesday evening work done in the capital of Switzerland. Champions League: Inter Milan vs. Barcelona

In Champions League, Football on November 21, 2009 at 22:27

By Joe, www.Bettingexpert.com

Henry can do his magic at the San Siro, he might not need his hands for this.

Group F is still wide open for any teams to qualify for the next round in the Champions League. Inter Milan tops the group but there is only 2 points difference from the bottom of the group. Whoever wins the tie between Inter and Barcelona could have one foot in the next round, a draw will fuel more excitement for the finale match 2 weeks from now. But first, there is a titanic tie at the San Siro, Tuesday evening where the Italian champions host the reigning Champions League and Spanish champion, Barcelona.

Inter are front runners for qualifying for the next round and their weekend 3-1 away win against Bologna certainly sets an expectation for the tie against Barcelona this coming Tuesday. Jose Mourinho is having  management issue with Mario Balotelli so expect Samuel Eto to start against his former club. Inter could be without young full-back Davide Santon, teenage Nigerian Joel Chukwuma Obi and influential Dutch midfielder Wesley Sneijder as they are unavailable due to injury.

The defending champions are in trouble as they 3rd in their group and leveled with Rubin Kazan at 5 points. They will need to win at the San Siro to put pressure on the others in the group. It could be a tough task for Barcelona as they drew 1-1 at the Nou Camp in Match day 1. The Catalan club will need Leo Messi, doubtful after incurring a facial injury vs. Bilbao, and Henry to pull out their best in order to escape elimination in the Champions League. Daniel Alves is currently at his top form and he could be on the verge to score a free kick goal if he gets the chance. Eric Abidal and Toure Yaya will not travel to Italy after contracting swine flu and now under quarantine.

Whoever loses this match could get knocked out of the Champions League so no one will give any quarters in the San Siro. A stalemate will most likely be the only option out for the neutrals but the Inter faithful will want their team to advance through on the night. Barcelona could well be the first team not to qualify for the last 16 as the reigning champion. The return of Swedish, Zlatan Ibrahimovic could haunt his old club.

Champions League: Debreceni vs. Liverpool

In Champions League, Football on November 21, 2009 at 22:05

By Joe, www.Bettingexpert.com

Liverpool will want the ball and they will anything just to get it on Tuesday.

The penultimate round of the Champions League group stage will see Liverpool travel to Budapest to face Hungarian champion, Debreceni. The venue is set to be played in the Stadium Puskas Ferenc, Budapest as Debreceni opt to play their Champions League in the biggest stadium in Hungary. Debreceni’s hope of qualifying for the next round and even for the UEFA Europa League have dashed but Liverpool’s chance for the last 16 is on thin ice.

The home side has struggled in their debut year in the Champions League. They are currently sitting firmly at the bottom of Group E with zero points. They have lost all their matches so far and they will be looking to register their first points in the next two matches. The Hungarian champion has let in on an average of 4 goals when hosting a European team, they are hoping that they will be able to improve their defensive record and tighten up the back 4. With only pride to play for, Debreceni will still make Liverpool work for their points.

If Liverpool wants to stay in this competition then they need win against Debreceni while Lyon doing them a favor against Fiorentina. Rafa Benitez has guided Liverpool into the last 16 in five occasions but this is the first time the Merseyside team’s fate is not in their hands. The Spaniard will need all the firepower he can get from his key players like Steven Gerrard, Fernando Torres and Glen Johnson. Both Johnson and Torres were not fit in the weekend 2-2 draw against Manchester City. Liverpool travels to Hungary in hope to escape early elimination with one ear on the score from Florence while playing to win in Budapest. Torres has not traveled with Liverpool to Budapest.

Liverpool are favorites against Debreceni as it is a must win match for them. They could end up playing in the Europa League next year or Champions League and we all know Liverpool would choose the prestige tournament, Champions League, as they are five times winners. Dirk Kuyt scored the only goal in the first ever meeting between Liverpool and Debreceni in Match day 1. The Dutchman will have to find his shooting boots out again if Liverpool stands a chance to qualify.

Champions League: AC Milan vs. Real Madrid

In Champions League, Football on November 1, 2009 at 12:45

By Joe, www.Bettingexpert.com

Ronaldinho looks to shine once again against Real Madrid.

Two of the biggest names in European football will meet again for their second matches in Group C. The first match, a fortnight ago, ended with a Milan 3-2 victory at the Santiago Bernabeu. Since that famous victory, Milan have not looked back and everything have gone positive for them.

Milan rejuvenated themselves by claiming a victory over Real Madrid in the Champions League Matchday 3 and saw themselves improve as a team in both domestically and European competitions. They have now shot themselves up to the top half of the Serie A by beating Parma 2-0 last weekend. Marco Borriello scored two goals that could prevent F. Inzaghi from a starting lineup on Tuesday evening. Manager Leonardo will be without Marek Jankulovski, Daniele Bonera, Christian Abbiati, Marco Storari, Oguchi Onyewu and Davide Di Gennaro against Madrid. The trio, Ronaldinho, Pirlo and Pato will be the one to watch for the Rossoneri.

Manager Manuel Pellegrini will have to win the heart of the Madrid fans by beating Milan this midweek. His time at Madrid came to difficult turn since they lost 4-0 to a third tier side Alcorcon in the Copa Del Rey. The team responded with a 2-0 home win against Gefate where Gonzalo Higuain struck twice with 10 men. Don’t expect Pellegrini to bring Guti to Milano as they are not in talking terms and Cristano Ronaldo has not recover from his injury

Kaka returns to his spiritual home at the San Siro but as a Madrid player. Last time these two teams met, it was an exciting game where chances were flying everywhere. This could be another encounter where lots of goals to keep everyone entertained. A draw looks likely to end this fierce rivalry between two of the most successive European Champions teams in history.

Champions League: Manchester United vs. Wolfsburg

In Champions League, Football on September 28, 2009 at 10:26

Ryan Giggs, 35, is enjoying and showing great form despite his age. Will he be able to get his hands on another Champions League before he retires?

Ryan Giggs, 35, is enjoying and showing great form despite his age. Will he be able to get his hands on another Champions League before he retires?

The champions of England, Manchester United, will host the German champions, Wolfsburg, in their first home match in the Champions League. Manchester United and Wolfsburg will be contesting for the top spot in Group B. Coach Sir Alex Ferguson will put his best team out to cement the authority of Group B.

At this stage of the competition, Manchester United usually grinds out their result rather than playing free flowing direct football as they are known for. Their heavy packed schedule and with some players coming back from injuries, Rio Ferdinand, Wes Brown and Owen Hargreaves, will put Man United in a cautious mode and finding their pace in all tournaments. They put in the necessary work and win games even when they play bad. Manchester United will do just enough to get past Wolfsburg with Berbatov, Rooney, Giggs and Scholes paving their way in the starting lineup.

This will be Wolfsburg first match against an English opposition on English ground in the Champions League. The Germans have made a bright start to their debut in the Champions League by beating CSKA Moskva 3-0 at home in round 1. Wolfsburg coach Armin Veh saw his side beat Hannover 4-2 at home this weekend. This will set up a much needed confidence for his players to shine at Old Trafford. Former Newcastle player, Obafemi Martins is the old player in the Wolfsburg squad that has scored against Manchester United. He will hope that he will be part of the starting lineup on the night or otherwise Edin Dzeko and probably partner up with Brazilian Grafite.

Manchester United have not lost in 21 UEFA Champions matches and their last defeat at Old Trafford was back in February, 2005 when AC Milan visited them. United are favorites against Wolfsburg and they could send the Germans home empty handed. Have a look at Betsson as they are offering a Manchester United win at 1.40.

Champions League: Bayern Munchen vs. Juventus

Can the Italian maestro do what he did last time he visited Munchen?

Can the Italian maestro do what he did last time he visited Munchen?

Two of the European football biggest name will clash in the Allianz Arena where Bayern Munchen will play host to Juventus on Wednesday night. Both teams are amongst the top half of their respective league and predicted to go through to the last 16 in the Champions League.

Under the helm of Loius Van Gaal,Bayern Munchen continued their winning ways in Europe after beating Macabi Haifa 3-0 away in the first round of the Champions League Group A.  Their good start to their European campaign was vital as Bayern is experiencing some mixed fortunes in their domestic season. They lost 1-0 away to Hamburg in the Bundesliga and that could spell a bit of low morale ahead of the Champions League tie. Daniel van Buyten will be Bayern’s key player on the night.

Juventus is looking to win both their domestic league title and the Champions League title. They squad depth is capable in reaching this goal and this could be their year. The Bianconeri did not started well in their first match in the group stage as they drew 1-1 at home against the French side, Bordeaux. A repeat of the same score was also achieved last weekend when Bologna equalized in the last minute of the Serie A match at the Stadio Dell Allepi. Captain Del Piero and veteran striker, David Trezeguet will be aiming to take all 3 points back to Torino.

Bayern Munchen’s last defeat in the group stage was against Juventus in 2004. That night, Del Piero scored a 90th minute goal to the Italian giants. It won’t be surprising to see Juventus achieving another similar result as Bayern is shaky in the back. Check out Betsson as they are offering 3.25 for a draw.

Champions League: Inter Milan vs. Barcelona

In Champions League, Football on September 14, 2009 at 10:45

By Joe, www.Bettingexpert.com

The reunion of the attackers and all eyes will be on Eto and Ibrahimovic at San Siro.

The reunion of the attackers and all eyes will be on Eto and Ibrahimovic at San Siro.

The reigning European Champions, Barcelona, will start their defense of the title in an exploding titanic match against the Italian champions, Inter Milan. The two teams have been in close contact all throughout the close season due to transfer of strikers Samuel Eto and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. This is one of the most anticipated ties in the first round of the Champions League group stages.

Inter Milan looks likely to challenge Barcelona for their European dominance and a win here could cement who goes through Group F as winner. Coach José Mourinho took Samuel Eto’o to San Siro and he has been a big hit amongst the Inter fans. Eto’o also managed to get his name on the score sheet last weekend in the 2-0 win at home against Parma. Inter’s Diego Milito is another bright player that Mourinho has bought in. Inter’s goal this year is for the Portuguese to win the Champions League.

Barcelona is looking to become the first team to defend the European crown since Milan did it in 1989/90. They warmed up with a 2-0 win over Getafe away in the weekend and new boy Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored the first goal while Leo Messi finished off the match. Ibrahimovic was not a big hit amongst the Inter fans and certainly not with Mourinho either. He will be proving himself to his former club and it will certainly be with a big reaction full of emotions. Barcelona will have every man available for this tie.

Last time these two teams met was back in 2002 in the group stages. The match ended with a goalless draw and both teams qualified to the last 16. A draw would suit both teams and most likely see Eto and Ibrahimovic scoring too. Check out Betsson as they are offering 3.20 for a draw.
