Brazil vs USA Final

BrazilUSAfinalCup

This must be one of the most surprising lineups for the Confederations cup final. The favorites to win the tournament, Brazil have reached the finals by winning all of their games. Their opponent in the final, USA are heavily tipped as underdog. Brazil have already beaten USA in the group stages second round with 3-0. No matter what the result will be, USA have achieved the most extraordinary result in their history of football by reaching their first ever international final. Brazil could retain and win their second consecutive Confederations cup.

Brazil have already met USA in the group stages of the Confederations cup final. They led the first half with 2-0 and added another goal in the 2nd half. A repeat of this result would come very handy for the Brazilian team in the Confederations cup final. Coach Dunga has not slacked in his choices of players for his starting lineup throughout the tournament. He will again start with his strongest line up so expect players like Kaka, Robinho and Luis Fabanio to lead the front lines. The only doubtful in the squad is defender Juan as he is still recovering from his knee injury.

USA would not like a repeat of their last week’s encounter with Brazil in Tshwane/Pretoria. Although, USA have made dramatic changes after that match, they have been successful in beating Egypt with 3-0 and stopping Spain’s 35-game unbeaten streak with the impressive 2-0 result in the Confederations cup semifinals. This will be Team USA first final in the international scene and it is certainly one of their best performances up to date. Coach Bradley will go into the Brazil game with high optimistism. Their last game must have given them more confidence and higher morale after dumping the European Champions out of the tournament. Sadly, USA do hold one of the most unfortunate records of being one of the dirtiest teams in the tournament, racking up their fourth consecutive red card.

USA play a very defensive game against the big nations. If you believe in statistics then Team USA will ultimately be bombarded with an average of 25 goal attempts from their opponent during the 90 minutes. If they can avoid conceding goals on the night then they will have every chance to win the Cup. The Brazilians have that scoring factor and it is predicted that they will be attacking the Americans from the start. So Brazil to win and Ladbrokes is offering at odds 1.33 to win.

Third Place Playoff: South Africa vs Spain

SouthAfricaSpainTorresBooth

This is one of the last games of Fifa Confederation Cup where the host nation will meet Spain again in the city of Rustenburg. Both teams will bow out of the tournament competing for the third place of Fifa Confederation Cup. Both teams lost in their semifinals but it was Spain’s surprising defeat to USA that shocked the football world. Despite the defeat, Spain are still favorite to beat South Africa.

This is South Africa’s first Fifa Confederation Cup and they have impressed many people by reaching the third place play off. South Africa met Spain earlier last week in the group stages in the last playing day. South Africa needed a win or draw to go through to the semifinals but Spain denied them by winning 2-0 on the night. Despite the defeat to the host nation, they still qualified for the semifinals. In the semifinals, South Africa impressed against Brazil and they only narrowly lost 1-0 in the dying moments of the 2nd half. They demonstrated that they can compete with the strong football nations and could match Spain once again. Coach Joel Santana will hope that South Africa can finish third place and revenge for their earlier 2-0 defeat to Spain

Up to the semifinals, Spain were in great form, they scored 8 goals and did not concede any goals. They also enjoyed the successfully 35 unbeaten winning streaks going into the USA game. However, this came to an end when they were stunned by playing the team USA in the semifinals. Spain were not able to be more cynical in front of the goal and some poor defending meant that Spain were denied of a dream final against Brazil. Del Bosque will have to rally his troops and win the third place for pride sake. Although, you never know with Del Bosque, as he could start with some fringe players as a reaction to his player’s performance against USA.

It was not expected that Spain would be finishing this tournament by playing South Africa for the third place. Spain are favorite to beat South Africa again and the Bafana Bafana boys will certainly put a show for the fans as an appreciation of their support. A win here would suit the host nation, but Spain has also got good value at mybet as they are offering 1.55 for a Spain win.

Brazil vs South Africa

The second semifinals in the Fifa Confederation Cup will see mighty Brazil take on the host nation, South Africa, at Johannesburg. Winners of Group B, Brazil, have been one of the best teams in the tournament. They are also one of the public’s favorite teams to watch and support in South Africa. However, this time around they will not get the same support from the home crowd as they face the home nation.

Brazil’s route to the semifinals have been impressive strings of results. They beat Egypt 4-3, crushed USA 3-0 and eliminated World cup winners Italy with 3-0 in their last game. They average 3 goals per game and conceded 3 goals in the group stages. Coach Dunga surprised a few people after naming a strong starting lineup against Italy as it was predicted that he would give a rest to a few players in his squad. Since that didn’t happen, it is obvious he will be recalling the same lineup to face South Africa. However, Juan will be placed by Luisao in the defense.  With players like Kaka, Luis Fabiano and Robinho at the front lines, could you resist another 3 goals performance from Brazil?

The Bafana Bafana boys did not get to the semifinals on their own merits. They had to rely on other teams to lose in order to progress to the semifinals. South Africa played 3 games, drew with Iraq, beat New Zealand 2-0 and lost to Group A winners Spain with 2-0. Despite their results, this is their best moments in the international scene and what is more important that it is in front of their own fans. Thembinkosi Fanteni and Steven Pienaar are one yellow card away from suspension. MacBeth Sibaya is suspended for the game against Brazil. Coach Joel Santana will need to replace them and hope they will produce a sensational result over where his birth country.

Brazil are clear favorites here. Dunga wants his team to stay focus and somewhat keep the standards up with 3 goals per game. They are a team that can turn the game around if you give them space and time. Against Italy, they score 3 goals in 8 minutes and this could happen on Thursday evening if South Africa does not keep their guard up. No matter what the result would be for South Africa, they should be proud of their achievements staging the Confederation Cup and reaching the semifinals. Look at mybet is offering 1.30 for Brazil to win.

Spain Torres Villa

This is the first semifinals in the Fifa Confederation Cup in South Africa. Spain, the Group A winner, will take on the surprising Group B’s second placed team, USA, at The Free State Stadium in Manguaung/Bloemfontein. Spain are heavily favorites to go through as the team have already won 3 games out of 3 enroute to the semifinals. USA won their last game and got through to the semifinals only on a better goal difference.

Spain powered their way into the semifinals without conceding a single goal and scored a total of 8 goals in 3 matches. They are by far the best team in group A and also simply one of the best teams in the tournament. They didn’t played to their full strength against New Zealand, Iraq and South Africa. Del Bosque had the chances to experiment with his team’s formation and tested out a few of the fringe players on the squad too. Spain were also rarely tested in the defense from their opponents. As Del Bosque prepares for the semifinal clash with the Americans, he will be happy to know that his squad is at full strength. Torres and Villa will most likely start upfront while Xabi Alonso and Fabregas will marshal the midfield. Xabi Alonso and Carlos Marchene are one yellow card away from suspension. Spain set a world record of 15 consecutive internationals wins after beating South Africa, they seem to be on course for their 16th.

USA surprised the world in getting into the semifinals. Before their last game against Egypt, they were at the foot of the table with no point and goal difference of negative five goals. At the end of the night, they beat Egypt with 3-0 and eliminated them from the tournament. They also needed a helping hand from Brazil in order for them to qualify. Brazil beat Italy 3-0 which helped Team USA to go on top of Italy through goal difference. This is the first time that USA have reached semifinals of an international tournament. Coach Bradley will certainly recall all the players who started against Egypt and hope they can produce another sensation.

Spain looks invincible at the moment. With 6 goals between the pair, Torres and Villa are one of the most feared partnerships in this tournament. USA usually do not come up with the goodies against the strong football nations and their defense do look a bit shaky at certain times. Team USA will find it tough to handle the Spanish front men for the 90 minutes. Spain look likely to advance to the finals and mybet is offering Spain at 1.30 to win.

Egypt vs USA

Egypt Mohamed Homos Italy

Egypt have certainly won a lot of football fans over the course of the Confederations cup. They managed to beat the World Champions, Italy, and narrowly lost the Brazilians in their opening game. After their surprising win over Italy, they are now in a chance to qualify for the semifinals of the Confederations Cup. They are neck and neck with Italy in Group B at 3 points a piece but Italy have a better goal difference of 1 goal.

Egypt are well in for a chance to snap up the last spot in the group to advance into the semifinals. The Egyptians are the second team in the competition’s history to defeat a European side. It was thanks to a 40th minute header from Mohamed Homos’ which produced one of the most surprising results in the Confederations Cup’s history. Their game against USA could see a bit of a shuffling to the starting lineup because Mohammed Zidan and Ahmed Fathi were substituted due to injuries sustained against Italy. Ahmed AL Muamadi is still suspended from his red card in the opening match.

Two things that the USA does well in this tournament, the first one is that they are consistent in conceding 3 goals per game and an average of one red card per game. Team USA is in close competition with New Zealand for the honor of being one of the worse teams of the tournament. Coach Bob Bradley needs to discipline his squad after receiving their 2nd red card in the tournament. Sacha Kljestan is suspended for the game against Egypt while Ricardo Clark returns from suspension. Coach Bradley could restore some faith in the team if they get a result in their last game.

Group B will have an exciting finish to determine who goes through to the semifinals. Egypt need a win and they will have to score more than 3 goals. Team USA can spoil the Egyptian’s hope as they are not a team that give up. They have never met in any competition and Egypt are short of attackers. It could get a bit competitive but Egypt will want this more so look at Ladbrokes as they are offering odds 1.80 for an Egypt win.

Brazil vs Italy

One of the most anticipated games in Group B between Brazil and Italy. Brazil has already done enough to qualify for the semifinal stages of the Confederations Cup. Italy are in a need of a win to put them through to the semifinals. The Italians have put themselves into this situation and they really need to step it up or otherwise Egypt could be the surprising package that will go through to the semifinals.

Brazil could send the current World Cup holders out of the tournament. Brazil might have to field their strongest side and might take the option of resting a few of his starting lineup players as he prepares for the semifinal showdown in which Del Bosque could be reluctant to do so as Italy are not a team to be set aside. He will be without defender Juan and might start Kaka on the bench. There is a good chance that Alexandre Pato and Elano might be featuring against Italy from the start. Never the less, Brazil will always bring a good game of football no matter what the occasion is.

Brazil have scored on an average of 3 goals per game so could we expect another goal feast against Italy?
Italy are known for their slow starts in tournaments and they have not disappointed us so far. They have really put themselves on testing grounds after their embarrassing 1-0 defeat to Egypt in their last game. Coach Lippi knows they must get a result against the Brazilians and he can’t afford to experiment with his attacking formation. He had used Rossi and Iaquinta against Iraq and Luca Toni and Gilardino in their opening match. He must now make a decision which partnerships he will bring in the dividends at the end of the day. Italy needs to get over the defeat against Egypt and concentrate on beating the Brazilians.

Italy somehow just could not score against Egypt. If this happens again against Brazil, then they might exit this tournament, unless Egypt loses to USA. Italy could turn up their game against the Brazilians. Del Bosque has no intentions to give a helping hand to Italy so expect a thrilling finale to Group B. These two teams met earlier this season at the Emirates Stadium in London, Brazil were victorious on the night as they won 2-0, thanks to Robinho and Elano.  Have a look at mybet as they are offering 2.95 for Italy to win.

South Africa vs Spain

South Africa Bernard Parker

The host nation will face the Spainish team in their last game of the Group A of the Fifa Confederation Cup. South Africa will be traveling to the city of Manguaung/Bloemfontein where they will play their third straight game in a different stadium. The host nation have been well supported in the last two games and hope that they will get the support on Saturday evening. South Africa are in a chance to qualify as 2nd in the group and hope to advance through to the semifinals.

In their ever first Fifa Confederation Cup tournament, South Africa’s fate are in their own hands to qualify for the semifinals. One point is the minimum requirement for the Bafana Bafana boys to achieve to qualify and they can even top the group if they are to beat Spain. South Africa won their first ever game in the Fifa Confederation Cup against New Zealand. They dominated the whole game and got their goals in each half. Coach Joel Santana must be planning something special for the home fans to cheer about as they go up against the mighty Spain. Hopefully Steven Pienaar will once again be in the starting lineup as he gave an extra dimension to the team. South Africa’s top scorer Bernard Parker will hope to score further goals. If South Africa are to advance to the semifinals then it will be one of their great achievements in South African football.

Spain have already qualified for the semifinals of the Fifa Confederation Cup. They easily beat Iraq 1-0 in their last game. Coach Del Bosque spared a couple of players in his starting lineup against Iraq. However, he did use both Torres and Villa upfront. Villa scored a 55th minute winning header goal which took his tally up to 18 goals in 18 games. He also managed to climb the rankings as the second highest Spanish goal scorer of all time, 14 goals behind Raul’s record of 44. Del Bosque might rest further players in order to begin preparation for the semifinals game. It is most likely they will meet one of the top national sides taking part of the Fifa Confederation Cup in Group B.

Spain might want to rest a few more players as they are set to meet the host nation on Saturday evening. The host nation are desperate to impress in their last game of the group as a win could take them into the semifinals. All they need to do is to get that one point on the night. It would be a disappointment if the host nation did not take any further part of the tournament so look at mybet as they are offering 3.30 for a draw.

Iraq vs New Zealand

Bora Milutinovic

This could be one of the final games in the Fifa Confederation Cup tournament for both teams. New Zealand have failed to win any game at the tournament while Iraq did a little better by drawing in their opening game against South Africa.  Iraq have a slim chance to qualify for the semifinals, even though things are looking a bit gloomy for both teams. The Iraqi team are required to win with more than 2 goals against New Zealand while they need helping hand from Spain to beat South Africa with at least 2-0.

The AFC Asian Cup 2007 winner, Iraq, played well over the last two games. They played and fielded a defensive side against both Spain and South Africa. They will go away at least with one draw and one defeat. Serbian Coach Bora Milutinovic is happy with the team’s performance despite the team’s results. The Iraqi team have only conceded one goal in their last two games and collected one point. That is an impressive record for their debut in the Fifa Confederation Cup. Coach Bora Milutinovic will have to attack New Zealand if they want cement their first victory in South Africa.

New Zealand have no choice but to leave the tournament as one of the weakest teams at this year’s edition of the Fifa Confederation Cup. Coach Ricki Herbert will be taking this tournament as a lesson learnt in preparation for the World Cup. Coach Ricki Herbert knows that they have a lot of work to be done. He has to concentrate with the defensive sides of things in order to boost his team’s confidence. In their last game, New Zealand’s 2-0 defeat to the home nation ended their chances to advance through the semifinals. Their pride could be restored if they are to score their first goal in this competition. A draw or a win would also be an achievement for the New Zealand squad.

New Zealand could go home with the award of having the wooden spoon on their back. The All White’s defense have been poor and was exploited easily. It looks likely that Iraq will have their chance in exploiting the All Whites weakness. At this stage, Iraq‘s likelihood of winning the last game is bigger than ever and mybet is offering 1.50 for a Iraq win.

Italy vs Egypt

Giuseppe Rossi Italy Football Team

The table shows that Italy is in pole position for Group B in the Fifa Confederation Cup. Italy tops the table with a goal difference or +2 and 3 points from 1 win, while Egypt is 3rd with no points and with -1 goal difference. Italy needs to win comfortably here in order to keep the top spot before playing Brazil in the final game.

Italy had to thank late substitute Giuseppe Rossi and Daniele De Rossi for their 2nd half efforts to put them on top of the table. They beat USA with 3-1 in their first ever match but their debut in the Fifa Confederation Cup did come with a little twist. Italy played against 10 men USA when a second red of the tournament was given to American R. Clark. At this point, Italy looked in full control to go on and win the game. However, Coach Lippi’s men were surprised by going 1-0 behind when Chielini gave away a penalty to USA. Italy only managed to salvage a surprise defeat when substitute Giuseppe Rossi came into the scene. Italy will most likely take pragmatic approach against Egypt. A more defensive Italian can be expected. Captain Pablo Cannavaro has recovered from his injury and might replace Nicola Legrottaglie or Giorgio Chiellini.

Egypt gave the neutrals something to bite on. They were just a few minutes away from taking away a point from the reigning champion of the Fifa Confederation Cup. Egypt played bright and direct football which matched Brazil’s pace and movement. However, they were not able to hold on as the match ended with a 4-3 defeat where Ahmed El Mohamady’s deliberate handball at the goal line and a penalty was converted by Kaka. Ahmed El Mohamady has the unfortunate record of receiving the first red card of the tournament. The Egyptian team did appeal and complain over the referee Howard Webb’s decision, but the FIFA rejected their claims. Mohammad Zidan will be a marked man for the upcoming Italian defense as he scored twice against the Brazilian. Egypt will need to win to stay alive in this tournament. Midfielder Ahmed Eid could replace the suspended Ahmed El Mohamady.

Italy can qualify for the semifinals of the Fifa Confederation Cup if they are to beat Egypt at Johannesburg. Egypt surprised everyone in the opening match, could they go one and do one better? Italy looks likely to win this affair as they will prey on the Egyptian’s mistakes, mybet is offering Italy at 1.60 to win.

Ricardo Kaka Brazil Football

Second stage of the group phase in group B sees Brazil take on USA at the city of Tshwane/Pretoria. The stadium Loftus Versfeld hosted already the match between USA and Italy with lots of football fans coming out in force. Hopefully, the game between Brazil and USA will see a sold out stadium, creating a great atmosphere for the players, fans and millions watching the TV. Brazil won their opening match against Iraq with a thriller 4-3 win while USA lost to Italy 3-1. Brazil are favorites to win this match.

Brazil needs to be weary of their defense duties. They are known for their offensive strength and they did not disappoint against Iraq. The most expensive player in the World, Kaka started the goal feast and ended the affair by converting a penalty for the game winner in the dying minutes of the game. Brazil had a few lapsing moments in their defending, this might be the case of their right and left backs playing too offensive and exposing the central defenders one too many times. Coach Del Bosque will have to sort that out as their lack of concentration cause them a late scare in their opening match. The team knows anymore poor defending will definitely be punished severely against more established opponents.

USA impressed the world for the first half of the game against Italy. However, they managed to also get the second red card of the tournament when Ricardo Clark recklessly hacked down Italian G. Gattuso. More controversial followed with as Jozy Altidore won a penalty for the Americans, Landon Donovan converted the penalty for the 1st half lead. Playing with 10 men, team USA was not able to hold on to the lead and lost the game with a 3-1 defeat. Now a similar task is in front of them as they play Brazil and they will need to keep all 11 men on the field if they are to avoid being knocked out of the tournament. Clark could be replaced by either Beasley or Califf for the game against Brazil.

Group B ended with lots of goals and many debating points in Day 1. Brazil could qualify for the semifinals if they are to beat USA. If a defeat occurs to USA, then this would be the end of the road for them in this year editions of the Fifa Confederation Cup. Brazil would want to top group B, as second place means they could face the informed Spanish team. Brazil could win big here and Ladbrokes is offering Brazil at odds 1.25 to win.
