Ryan Giggs, 35, is enjoying and showing great form despite his age. Will he be able to get his hands on another Champions League before he retires?

The champions of England, Manchester United, will host the German champions, Wolfsburg, in their first home match in the Champions League. Manchester United and Wolfsburg will be contesting for the top spot in Group B. Coach Sir Alex Ferguson will put his best team out to cement the authority of Group B.

At this stage of the competition, Manchester United usually grinds out their result rather than playing free flowing direct football as they are known for. Their heavy packed schedule and with some players coming back from injuries, Rio Ferdinand, Wes Brown and Owen Hargreaves, will put Man United in a cautious mode and finding their pace in all tournaments. They put in the necessary work and win games even when they play bad. Manchester United will do just enough to get past Wolfsburg with Berbatov, Rooney, Giggs and Scholes paving their way in the starting lineup.

This will be Wolfsburg first match against an English opposition on English ground in the Champions League. The Germans have made a bright start to their debut in the Champions League by beating CSKA Moskva 3-0 at home in round 1. Wolfsburg coach Armin Veh saw his side beat Hannover 4-2 at home this weekend. This will set up a much needed confidence for his players to shine at Old Trafford. Former Newcastle player, Obafemi Martins is the old player in the Wolfsburg squad that has scored against Manchester United. He will hope that he will be part of the starting lineup on the night or otherwise Edin Dzeko and probably partner up with Brazilian Grafite.

Manchester United have not lost in 21 UEFA Champions matches and their last defeat at Old Trafford was back in February, 2005 when AC Milan visited them. United are favorites against Wolfsburg and they could send the Germans home empty handed. Have a look at Betsson as they are offering a Manchester United win at 1.40.

Champions League: Bayern Munchen vs. Juventus

Can the Italian maestro do what he did last time he visited Munchen?

Can the Italian maestro do what he did last time he visited Munchen?

Two of the European football biggest name will clash in the Allianz Arena where Bayern Munchen will play host to Juventus on Wednesday night. Both teams are amongst the top half of their respective league and predicted to go through to the last 16 in the Champions League.

Under the helm of Loius Van Gaal,Bayern Munchen continued their winning ways in Europe after beating Macabi Haifa 3-0 away in the first round of the Champions League Group A.  Their good start to their European campaign was vital as Bayern is experiencing some mixed fortunes in their domestic season. They lost 1-0 away to Hamburg in the Bundesliga and that could spell a bit of low morale ahead of the Champions League tie. Daniel van Buyten will be Bayern’s key player on the night.

Juventus is looking to win both their domestic league title and the Champions League title. They squad depth is capable in reaching this goal and this could be their year. The Bianconeri did not started well in their first match in the group stage as they drew 1-1 at home against the French side, Bordeaux. A repeat of the same score was also achieved last weekend when Bologna equalized in the last minute of the Serie A match at the Stadio Dell Allepi. Captain Del Piero and veteran striker, David Trezeguet will be aiming to take all 3 points back to Torino.

Bayern Munchen’s last defeat in the group stage was against Juventus in 2004. That night, Del Piero scored a 90th minute goal to the Italian giants. It won’t be surprising to see Juventus achieving another similar result as Bayern is shaky in the back. Check out Betsson as they are offering 3.25 for a draw.

SAS Liga: Aab vs. F.C. København

The reigning champion visits Aab at the Energi Nord Arena in highly intensive match for top placing in the SAS Liga.

The reigning champion visits Aab at the Energi Nord Arena in highly intensive match for top placing in the SAS Liga.

The Danish league has had a bit of twist and turn in the last couple of rounds. The reigning champion, FCK, is finding life tough in the domestic league simply because of their commitments in Europe and the squad needing to cope with injuries. They will be traveling to North of Jutland to face 2nd place, Aab, at the Energi Nord Arena.

Aab are slowly finding their form. After getting disposed in the UEFA Europa league tournament, Aab have gone through a bit of change and got more focused in the domestic league. They went on an 8 consecutive winning spree until last weekend when Silkeborg surprising won 1-0 at Energi Nord Arena. They responded by thrashing Thisted F.C 3-0 in the Ekstra Bladet Cup in the midweek which sets up nicely for the top match against FCK. Former FCK player, Rasmus Wurtz will serve his one match suspension against FCK.  Ronnie Schwartz and Jakob Ahlmann are still injured.

F.C. København is in need for points as they are chasing the league leader, Esbjerg FC, by five points. The reigning champion won 2-1 in their midweek match in the Ekstra Bladet Cup against Helsingor. Coach Stale Solsbakken is trying to get his team back in shape losing his goal keeper, Jesper Christiansen, Mathias Zanka Jorgensen and Hjalte Nørregaard to injuries. The Norwegian coach knows that they have got their confidence back after winning last weekend 3-0 at home against Randers. They will need to increase the tempo of their play in order to put pressure on their opponents to make mistakes.

F.C. København knows that the Energi Nord Arena is no hunting ground for them. They lost 3-2 the last time they met in North of Jutland. It was back in 2006 that FCK tasted victory against Aab at the Energi Nord Arena. It will be a tight affair and a draw should not be a big disappointment for both teams so have a look at Ladbrokes as they are offering odds 3.30 for a draw.

Premier League:Liverpool vs. Hull City

In Barclays Premiership League, Football on September 23, 2009 at 19:11

Steven Gerrard came to the rescue last time Liverpool played Hull City at Anfield. Will the captain win it for the Reds this time?

Steven Gerrard came to the rescue last time Liverpool played Hull City at Anfield. Will the captain win it for the Reds this time?

After the home defeat to Aston Villa one month ago, Liverpool have gone strengthen to strengthen. Captain Steven Gerrard, Fernando Torres, Ryan Babel and Dirk Kuyt have turned their game up and produced the results that Coach Rafa Benitez wanted. They will host Hull City at Anfield Road and looks surely to make it their sixth consecutive win in a roll.

Rafa Benitez made 9 changes in their midweek 1-0 win in the League Cup against Leeds United. The game didn’t end without some controversial as Javier Mascherano was caught on TV elbowing a Leeds player in the 2nd half. The Argentinean will be subject to a FA investigation and his place against Hull City looks doubtful. Both Gerrard and Torres started on the bench against Leeds and they look most certainly rested for the Premier league game.  Danish defender Daniel Agger is training with the squad again and could play a role sometime in the near future.

The Tigers made nine changes in the midweek’s heavy defeat to Everton, in the League Cup, from the side that lost to Birmingham last Saturday. Kamil Zayatte and Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink were the two players that retained their places in the starting lineup. This year, Hull have started their campaign in poor form and looking likely to play a part in the relegation battle. Coach Phil Brown has been busy in the transfer market but seemingly finding it hard to get his players gel together. They are currently 19th in the league and they really need to get their defensive marking up a notch.

Things are going well for Liverpool and it will take a lot of hard work if any teams want to claim any points at Anfield. The last time the two teams faced each other in Anfield ended 2-2 and could the Tigers land themselves another good result? Liverpool will get the better of Hull and Betsson is offering Liverpool at 1.18 for a win.

Last time they met, Chelsea won 1-0 in the FA Cup. What will happen in the Carling Cup?

The Carling Cup is back and we start our coverage with Chelsea hosting QPR at Stamford Bridge this Wednesday evening. The Carling Cup has been a tournament tradition where most of the Premiership teams giving their their youngsters a chance to play competitive football in the first team. It is expected that Chelsea would field their youngsters while QPR will be sending out their best.

Chelsea is top of the Premier League with 6 wins out of 6 matches played. Chelsea Italian Coach, Carlo Ancelotti, has really got the Blues playing some eccentric attacking football and he hopes that their form will continue in the Carling Cup. Ancelotti  will be without Didier Drogba and Michael Essien. Ancelotti could be sending out players like Daniel Sturridge, Fabio Borini, Yurt Zhirkov and Juliano Belletti.

QPR could cause an upset against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge because QPR have done well in the past in the Carling Cup. Last year, they beat Aston Villa 1-0 away in the third round and crashed out of the tournament to eventual finalist Manchester United 1-0 away in the fourth round. QPR are currently 12th in the Coca-Cola League Championship and they won their match against 2-0 against Cardiff away in the weekend. Their key players are Routledge and Simpson and they will have to turn up their game if QPR wants to go through to the next round.

Chelsea beat QPR last year in the FA cup 1-0 and that might suit ideally suit Ancelotti and chelsea fans. QPR is on a quest to muscle with the Premiership teams and this is their chance. There is a chance that the match could go  into extra time and Betsson is offering odds 5.75 for a draw.

Serie A: Roma vs. Fiorentina

In Football, Serie A on September 17, 2009 at 13:46

By Joe, www.Bettingexpert.com

Who will win in the Sunday evening match between Viola and the captial club, Roma.

Who will win in the Sunday evening match between Viola and the captial club, Roma.

Roma, with their new coach Claudio Ranieri, will test their strength against Fiorentinat the Stadio Olimpico. Both teams had played their respective midweek European football away from home which could spell a few changes or tired legs in this 4th round tie. Roma are weak favorites to notch another 3 points to their account.

The three times Serie A winner have not started out well in the domestic 2009/10 campaign. Out of the first three games played, Roma got their first points of the season last weekend as they won it late with a Jon Arne Riise free kick that made it 2-1 with a few minutes left to go in the game against Siena. Their midweek European match against Basel ended with a draw. Ranieri will probably start with captain Totti and Vucinic upfront.

Fiorentina have not been in such high places ever since Gabriel Batistuta left the club, things are up as they are playing in the Champions League and competing in the top half of the Serie A. Their recent defeat to Lyon in the Champions League was one of their first defeats in the season as they are unbeaten in the domestic league with 2 wins and a draw.  The team is winning games because of Alberto Gilardino brilliance and one to keep an eye on this Sunday evening, despite his straight red card in the midweek for using his elbow in an aerial challenge. Fiorentina will without one of their key front man, Adrian Mutu.

Statistically seen, Roma looks to be on top of Fiorentina at the Stadio Olimpico. This will be a tight affair and one small incident can change the course of the match. Fiorentina is in form while Roma is looking to find themselves, a draw would suit both teams. Check out Betsson as they are offering 3.35 for a draw.

Premier League:Manchester United vs Manchester City

In Barclays Premiership League, Football on September 17, 2009 at 13:23

By Joe, www.Bettingexpert.com

A heat affair at the Manchester derby will certainly return to our screen this weekend.

A heat affair at the Manchester derby will certainly return to our screen this weekend.

The first Manchester derby this season could see Manchester City’s title hopes either in the shadows or in the limelight as they travel across the city to face their rivals, Manchester Untied at Old Trafford. With millions of pounds poured into the blue half of Manchester, this game has become a highly regarded match in the outcome of the title race. City has recently claimed their status as one of the Big 4 teams in the Premier League replacing Arsenal.

The year of domination of the Premier league and also Manchester itself, Manchester United has been recognized as the team of Manchester for the last two decades. Alex Ferguson built this team up and 20 years ago and will find all the firepower to sink their neighbors this Sunday afternoon. The return of Rio Ferdinand has also boosted the team’s defense morale and it return to the days where they kept clean sheets week in and week out. Paul Scholes will not feature in the derby as he was red card in the last weekend win at White Hart Lane.

Manchester City are certainly producing the results with the new players they have acquired over this summer. Their recent win against Arsenal was marred by Adebayor’s behavior on the pitch and that has resulted in a three match ban given by the FA. This means that Manchester City will be without Robinho, Roque Santa Cruz, Benjani Mwaruwari and Adebayor against Manchester United this weekend. Craig Bellamy is the only forward available while former Manchester United player, Carlos Tevez is rated doubtful to face his old club.

After the surprising defeat to Burnley, Manchester United have gone strengthen to strengthen. The return of Rio Ferdinand could prove the end of the leaky defense that United have been experiencing lately. City is in good form but that is with Adebayor scoring every week and now that he is missing, could City rise up to the challenge? Have a look at Betsson as they are offering a Manchester United win at 1.67.

Champions League: Inter Milan vs. Barcelona

The reunion of the attackers and all eyes will be on Eto and Ibrahimovic at San Siro.

The reunion of the attackers and all eyes will be on Eto and Ibrahimovic at San Siro.

The reigning European Champions, Barcelona, will start their defense of the title in an exploding titanic match against the Italian champions, Inter Milan. The two teams have been in close contact all throughout the close season due to transfer of strikers Samuel Eto and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. This is one of the most anticipated ties in the first round of the Champions League group stages.

Inter Milan looks likely to challenge Barcelona for their European dominance and a win here could cement who goes through Group F as winner. Coach José Mourinho took Samuel Eto’o to San Siro and he has been a big hit amongst the Inter fans. Eto’o also managed to get his name on the score sheet last weekend in the 2-0 win at home against Parma. Inter’s Diego Milito is another bright player that Mourinho has bought in. Inter’s goal this year is for the Portuguese to win the Champions League.

Barcelona is looking to become the first team to defend the European crown since Milan did it in 1989/90. They warmed up with a 2-0 win over Getafe away in the weekend and new boy Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored the first goal while Leo Messi finished off the match. Ibrahimovic was not a big hit amongst the Inter fans and certainly not with Mourinho either. He will be proving himself to his former club and it will certainly be with a big reaction full of emotions. Barcelona will have every man available for this tie.

Last time these two teams met was back in 2002 in the group stages. The match ended with a goalless draw and both teams qualified to the last 16. A draw would suit both teams and most likely see Eto and Ibrahimovic scoring too. Check out Betsson as they are offering 3.20 for a draw.

Champions League: Liverpool vs. Debreceni

In Champions League, Football on September 14, 2009 at 10:10

Can Rafa Benitez provide Liverpool another epic run in the Champions League final in Madrid?

Can Rafa Benitez provide Liverpool another epic run in the Champions League final in Madrid?

European night returns to Anfield this midweek and the Hungarian champions Debreceni VSC will be contesting the five times European Champions winner, Liverpool. This is the one of the first clashes in Group E of the Champions League, Lyon and Fiorentina are the other teams which make up the group. Liverpool’s captain Steven Gerrard and talisman Fernando Torres will form partnership to lead the attack.

Liverpool is a different team when it comes to the Champions League. The team have a special place in the European scene and many of the teams will fear to meet them at Anfield. Coach Rafa Benitez are competing in their sixth successive group-stage campaign and not once have they failed to reach the last 16. Prior to the match against Debreceni, Liverpool was victorious at home in the weekend against Burnley with Yossi Benayoun scoring a hat trick in the 4-0 emphatic win. Javier Mascherano will return after missing out against Burnley and defender Fabio Aurelio might make the bench.

The Hungarian champion will become the first team from their country to play in the Champions League group stages since Ferencvarosi TC in 1005/96. Debreceni started their Champions League run in the second qualifying round and successfully beaten off Kalmar FF, Tallinn and Levski Sofia. Läszló Bodnar is the one of the players in the Debreceni squad who has played against Liverpool and was defeated twice with Dynamo Kyiv in the 2001 Champions League run.

Liverpool is slowly finding their form in the domestic league and now they will have to transfer this to the European scenes. The last time Liverpool lost at home was against Chelsea in the quarterfinals 2008/09 campaign. The Hungarian could be Liverpool’s first victim in the quest for their sixth Champions League title, and Betsson is offering Liverpool at 1.11 for a win.

Premier League: Birmingham vs. Aston Villa

In Barclays Premiership League, Football on September 11, 2009 at 10:47

By Joe, http://www.Bettingexpert.com

Who will claim the first local midland derby? Carew loves the occasion.

Who will claim the first local midland derby? Carew loves the occasion.

The first midland derby for some time now and this one will be a vital one as both teams is searching for three precious points. The pride of Birmingham is at stake and this high prolific game will have a 13:00 kickoff time on Sunday this weekend. Both teams will certainly be at their best as none of the players will want to lose match of all games.

The eagerly awaited Birmingham derby must put a lot of Blues through sleepless nights. The Blue of Birmingham will certainly look forward in claiming the bragging rights if they do one better than their neighbor. Teemu Tainio, signed from Sunderland on loan just before the transfer window closed, is doubtful as he received a knock over international duty. On the positive front, Coach Alex McLeish could well have James McFadden in his starting lineup against Villa after he missed the crucial game against Holland in the midweek.

Aston Villa will give newly recruit defender, Richard Dunne his debut in the first midland derby of the season. Dunne will be partnering up with James Collins as Luke Young and Curtis Davis are out with injuries. Under Coach Martin O’Neil, Villa has a good record against Birmingham, winning 2 out of 2 games. The Villains could field a formidable attacking force consisting of John Carew, Gabriel Agbonlahor, Ashley Young, Emile Heskey and James Milner.

Villa have certainly the upper hand on Birmingham in the Derby, they are undefeated in four consecutive matches with two under O’Neill. As this is a derby, it will mostly be a tight affair with emotion flying around. So a draw could suit both teams at the end of the day and Betsson is offering 2.20.
