F.C. København vs Randers

In Football on May 30, 2009 at 16:54

By Joe,

Jesper Chrisitiansen FCK

F.C. København started the season with Randers away back in July 2008, the only difference in their coming meeting is that FCK are now the Danish Champion of the season. They cemented their 5th Danish title in their 17 years of existence. They also managed to pick up the Danish Pokal Cup trophy two weeks ago and this makes them “the double” winner for this season. FCK will be hosting Randers on Sunday in Parken to celebrate both trophies infront of their 38,000 crowd.

For the first time in this season, F.C. København will not have to defend their league position. Last weekend, FCK managed to beat Esbjerg with 1-0 away and Brondby lost at Aarhus have virtually sent the trophy away. Not so long ago, FCK was struggling and lost their first place to Brondby after losing 3-2 away to OB. That defeat was one of the turning points for FCK as they went on to beat rivals Brondby with a destructive 4-0 win at Parken and beat Aab in the Danish Pokal Final. Their last game in Parken could witness goalkeeper Jesper Chrisitiansen’s last game for FCK.

Randers will travel to Copenhagen in search for a win to hold on to their 5th spot in the Danish league. Although Jylland team have been playing well this season, this does not given them a spot for European football next season at Essex Park. They have been a strong team at home, however, they also lost 9 games away and drawing 12 games too. Coach Stig Tofting will be hoping that there is money to recruit new players for next season and hope to keep Soren Berg in the squad, as he has been influential on the Randers team. Tofting does not have fond memories of FCK fans during his playing days so there is a chance that he would dent their mood on Sunday by beating them.

FCK is currently on top form but this coming Sunday they might take a back bench and relax bit as they have secured the 2 trophies they have set out to win. FCK have had a great season, they were part of the last 32 in the UEFA Cup and winners of both the Danish League and Cup. Coach Stale will be hoping to strengthen the team to make sure they get into the Champion League group stages next season. Randers will want to target a European spot but they have to start thinking about it after this game and mybet is offering a FCK win at odds 1.55.

Juventus vs Lazio

In Football on May 30, 2009 at 10:03

By Joe,

Alessandro Del Piero Juventus

Things are getting tough at Juventus. The run up to their final match on Sunday has been hit by many off the field incident after losing the title race against Inter in the league. Juventus have already sacked Claudio Ranieri and have already started recruiting players for next season. The process has already started and the pre-season cannot come any sooner for the Old Lady. However, one of Lazio’s highlights of the season is winning with the Coppa Italia trophy.

Juventus currently holds the 2nd place in the Serie A. Standing coach Circo Ferrara will prepare the tie against Lazio with a full squad available to him. Ferrara won last weekend’s game against Siena which have ended their 4 in a roll streak of defeats. This win cemented that the squad have regained their confidence but the tactics virtually stayed the same. Juventus now need a win here to gain automatic qualification to the Champions League group stages. Off the field, Juventus have signed Diego from Werder Bremen and are looking to extend the contracts of some of the few players in the current squad. With all these on the table, the Old Lady is looking to end this season with a high note.

Lazio currently holds the 10th spot in the table. They have not been in their best of forms this season as inconsistency was their major foe. Like Juventus, they also won their last match against Reggina ending their 4 game streak defeat too. On route to the Coppa Italia final, Lazio managed to beat Juventus in the semi-finals with 2-1 home and away. This could spell trouble for Juventus if Lazio are to come with the same form their produced in the Coppa Italia. Lazio would also like to end with a positive note here as Lazio coach Rossi’s future is on the line.

Last time these two teams met in the Serie A back in January, it ended 1-1 in Rome. Juventus usually have the upper hand in Torino so expect a bit of the Old Lady singing at the end of the game. Del Piero looks likely the key man in Ferrara’s set up and he might just prove it again against Lazio, so have a look at Ladbrokes as they are offering 1.36 for a home win.

Fiorentina vs AC Milan

In Football on May 29, 2009 at 11:07

By Joe,

Cesar Prandelli Fiorentina FC

Coming to the end of the Italian season, Milan’s longest serving defender and captain Paolo Maldini will be wrapping up his remarkable career at Fiorentina for their final match. The last automatic Champions League spot is up for grabs and Milan needs a win to secure that 2nd position in the Serie A. Fiorentina can mathematically get that 2nd spot too but they need to beat Milan with at least minimum of 3 goals and hope that Juventus avoids victory over Lazio. The league title has been secured by Inter and now it is up to the rest to fight for what there is left in the Serie A.

Milan travels to Fiorentina for their final game of the season. Their preparation has been marred by the incident last weekend in the San Siro when a section of the Milan fans protested in Maldini’s final game. There has been much debate over the week that even the officials of the AC Milan board came out with a declaration explaining Milan’s position regarding the whole farce. Last weekend’s 3-2 defeat to Roma had also dented the atmosphere in Milan but that should not be a problem for this weekend’s game. There will be a big presence of star players available on the day for Manager Ancelotti’s first 11 selections. Players like Seedorf, Kaka, Inzaghi, Beckham and Pirlo are ready to battle for the 2nd place in the league. This could also be Ancelotti’s last game in charge of Milan. Strong hints have been placed that he will be leaving Milan after this match.

Fiorentina has been looking forward to this contest and it will be a memorable one as they have done well this season. The Viola fans will be happy to see their team competing in Champion League next season but might have to go through the qualifying rounds before actually competing in the group stages. The last game of the season will see Melo and Dainelli sitting out as they will serve a one match suspension. Mutu, Santana and Bonazzoli are also injured and probably will not feature on Sunday. It will be most likely Prandelli will be the first pick to lead the attacking offensive on the day. Fiorentina will be looking for a victory here to end on a high note.

Both teams have qualified for the Champions League next season but it is the automatic qualification to the group stages that is on the stake. A few players in the Milan squad will be playing their last game for the team and they will want to make an impression. Fiorentina will not settle with a defeat in their last match so it looks likely to be a draw and mybet is offering 3.10 for a draw.

Chelsea vs. Everton

By Joe,

Chelsea vs. Everton Blog FA Cup Final

The Road to Wembley FA Cup 2009 ends this weekend when Chelsea meets Everton at the new Wembley Stadium. This will be the curtain closer for the English football and between the two teams, one team will go empty handed this season. Chelsea will be playing in their yellow color on the day while Everton is handed their normal blue first kit.

Chelsea’s temporary Manager Guus Hiddink has only been at the Stamford Bridge helm for three months yet he has done wonders for Chelsea. He has managed to bring back the confidence into the team and has masterminded their path to Wembley. It will be the only medal that Hiddink can win this season and Everton stands in his way. Hiddink’s first Wembley Final experience will his last with the Blues and it will be his final goodbye at Wembley before his spell with the club comes to an end. He will return to manage the Russian National Team full-time. Many first team players have announced their availability and Hiddink can choose between players like Lampard, Drogba, Ballack or Anelka for his final tactical masterpiece for Chelsea.

After 14 years of absent, Everton returns to the FA Cup Final. Their last appearance came in 1995 where they won the FA cup which was also the last silverware Everton won. As they enter their most pivotal moment in their history, David Moyes can be the first Scotsman to win the FA Cup for the Merseyside team. Tim Cahill is the only player in the Everton squad who has played in the FA Cup Final when he was with Millwall. Defender Phil Jagielka is ruled out as he suffers a ligament injury. Everton won their two last games as their run up to the FA Cup Final.

Chelsea and Everton met twice in the Primer League and in both occasions, it ended 0-0. There have not been any great games between these two teams of the late. Both teams have been scoring lots of goals in their last few matches and what a potential goal mouthing event this could turn out. However it could end up a very tactical game where both teams would play very cautious and by that a draw could be on the horizon so look for Ladbrokes as they are offering 3.30 for a draw on Saturday.

Hull City vs. Manchester United

In Football on May 23, 2009 at 10:46

By Joe,

What an exciting end to the season for Hull City. Two weeks ago, Hull was the one deem for relegation but after last week they managed to be ahead of the relegation pack with 1 point. Hull currently with 35 points and in 17th place, needs a win to seal their destiny. It all comes down to this game at KC stadium where Hull City can determine their own fate. A win here would see them safe for another season in the Premier League.

Hull City’s first season in the Premier League has determined by the result of the last game of the season. They are facing already the Premiership Champion Manchester United in a match where win at all cost could be the element of the day. With only one point advantage and if Hull does not beat Manchester United then they will have to rely on Newcastle not picking more than a point against Aston Villa in order to stay in the league. It’s all sounds confusing but that is the beauty of the last day play of the season. Manager Phil Brown has a full squad available to pick from for the Sunday match. Long term injuries to Jimmy Bullard, Ian Ashbee and Anthony Gardner will not feature. Both Kamil Zayatte and Bernard Mendy will be tested before the match as they are both struggling with head and toe injuries respectively. On loan striker Manucho will not be available due to the reason that he is unable to play against his parent club, so Caleb Forlan will step back in the lineup after serving his suspension last week.

Already crowned champions of English football, Manchester United will travel with to the KC stadium with a weaker squad and only with a few hosts of star players as Alex Ferguson will rest the rest ahead of the Champions League final this coming Wednesday. Players like Wayne Rooney, Christano Ronaldo and Michael Carrick will not feature against Hull. Alex will be sending a team of youngsters and possibly find Macheda, Danny Gibson, Danny Welbeck in the pecking order. Senior members of the team like Wes Brown and Rio Ferdinand might feature in the game and on the day captain Darren Fletcher will most likely play as he misses out of the Champions League Final due to suspension.

Last game of the season usually means the life or death for some teams. Newly crowned champion Manchester United will not have to contemplate whether they win or lose here. On the other hand, Hull needs everything they have to get their way for just this match to meet their objective of the season, survival. With a depleted Manchester United team, Hull looks more favorable here and mybet is offering 3.25 for a draw on Saturday.

Liverpool vs. Tottenham

In Football, Premier League on May 23, 2009 at 10:35

By Joe,

Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres Liverpool

Liverpool will be ending this season with a positive outcome for next. For the first time since 1990, They have managed to seriously mount a title challenge for this season and. Although, this is another trophyless season, it could be beneficial for them in a long run as their chances of winning their 19th league title looks likely to be around just the corner. All Liverpool fans will be looking forward to next season.

Rafa Benitez will sign off at Anfield in a high note with a victory over Spurs. They will entertain the Anfield crowd with goals and a mixture of attacking football. This has been a Liverpool team that has scored over 200 goals in 2 seasons, so gone with those days that Liverpool is a defensive team. This will be an open game against Spurs as nothing is on stake. Sami Hyppia might get some playing minutes against Spurs as this will be his final game for the Reds. He has served 10 years for the club and will be moving on to Leverkusen next season.

Roy Keane returns to Anfield after a short stint in a Liverpool shirt. This time, he will be bearing a Tottenham Hotspur shirt and leading their attack. Under Harry Redknapp, Spurs have found a bit of stability and has concentrated more on the attacking football. The start of the season did not go as well with them but Redknapp took them out from a crisis standpoint to a mid table team preparing for next season. There will be changes at Spurs during the preseason and it will come without any surprise as the board will demand for a European spot next year. Redknapp travels to Anfield without Michael Dawson (ankle), Aaron Lennon (groin), Tom Huddlestone (knee) and Jamie O’Hara (knee) while Wilson Palacios is on compassion leave. Jonathan Woodgate (groin) and Benoit Assou-Ekotto (knee) will face a late fitness tests

Liverpool to beat Spurs at Anfield with Gerrard and Torres in the starting lineup, what else can go wrong. Liverpool is also looking for another clean sheet so that Pepe Reina can tally his clean sheets up to 20 this season. Look out for Ladbrokes as they are offering a home win at 1.53.

Aston Villa vs. Newcastle

In Football on May 22, 2009 at 16:20

By Joe,

john carew aston villa

Relegation is looming on Newcastle and this Sunday is the last straw. Newcastle will be travelling to Birmingham to face Aston Villa for the crunch game of the season. The only way for Newcastle to survive relegation is to win and hoping for Hull City to slip up against Manchester United. The other factor is that if Sunderland also loses and Newcastle wins against Villa, another life line is also given to them. Not everything is all gloom yet for Newcastle but they will have to win their game and let the rest unfold.

Newcastle Manager Alan Shearer could see his beloved club go down to the Championship if he can not guide them to victory at Villa Park. Although he is the cult hero of the club, there is little that he can do for the fans if they are to go down. The club could go into more financial trouble and high profile players will have to be sold off. Aside from Newcastle struggling, they are aslo finding it hard to get their current players fit too. Michael Owen has problems with his persistent groin injury, Obafemi Martins is also dogged by the same problem and right back Habib Beye will not play against Villa as he is hit with a hamstring. Two players that could feature in the survival battle are Alan Smith and Jose Enrique as both returns through injuries.

Villa will finish in the top 5 for the first time since 1996/97 season. This is a remarkable achievement as the Premier League is dominated by the Big 4. At one point of the season, Villa was threatening Arsenal for the fourth place. Villa tried to break the monopoly and they have proven they have the talent but not the consistency to do it. Next season, Martin O’Neil will strengthen his squad in order to challenge for the Champions League spot. Ashley Young and Luke Young are rated doubtful for this match. This is the last game Martin Laursen as he will address the Villa crowd of his earlier retirement due to ongoing injuries.

It will be an exciting finish to the season but sadly it will involve Newcastle, Hull and Sunderland on Sunday. Newcastle is in the worst position but there is still a chance. First Villa is standing in their way but if Newcastle can overcome them, they will need a favor from the other teams. Villa is looking for their 17th win at home this season and looking for John Carew to continue his scoring. Newcastle could do the double on Villa and would not that be an ideal scenario for all betting tipsters, mybet is offering 2.65 for an away win.

F.C. København vs. Aab

In Football on May 20, 2009 at 10:59

By Joe,

Hjalte Nørregaard FCK

These two teams met a few weeks ago in Parken fighting for the 3 points in the Danish League. This time it is for a different cause, where winner of this game will win the Danish Pokal Cup. FCK are favorites to win the Pokal Cup and they have home advantage.

FCK will be meeting Aab for the fourth time this season. FCK lost in their away game back in November to Aalborg 3-1. However, FCK beat Aab 3-0 in their last two meeting that were played in Parken. Their most recent meeting was played in Parken last month. After beating Brondby last weekend, there is every chance Coach Stale Solsbakken might field a weaker side against Aab. This is to protect and rest his players for playing too many vital games in the past weeks and to prepare them for the away game against Randers FC this weekend which could determine the league champion. FCK is looking to win their 4th Danish Pokal Cup out of 17 attempts. There are also on course for the “Double” this season.

Aab travels to Parken in search for their 3rd Danish Pokal Cup. They have previously won this competition back in 1966 and 1970. They have been finalists for several occasions in the last decade. Their statistic might be against Aab in the Danish Pokal Cup but they have certainly done well in the knockout tournaments this season. Looking at their league position, it’s hard to believe that they are the current Danish Champion. Their league form has been terrible and with 30 odds points behind FCK, it does not look like there are capable of defending their title against FCK. Aab have done well in the knockout competition, they were able to make the quarterfinals of the UEFA and now, the Pokal Final. They are motivated team when it comes to knockout competition. Aab will be happy to see their Andreas Johannson and Steve Olfers back in the squad. Kasper Bøgelund, Michael Jakobsen, Michael Beauchamp, Marcus Tracy, Kenneth Stenild and Daniel Christensen will not feature against FCK.

Aab has not been able to defend the Danish title and now their only way to get into European football next season is to win the Pokal. If they lose, they will have to hope that FCK will win the Danish League in order for Aab to gain entry to Europe. FCK home in Parken, beaten Aab twice with 3-0 and now they meet for the third time in Parken. De ja vu? FCK to win and mybet is offering a FCK win at odds 1.60.

Chelsea vs. Blackburn Rovers

In Football on May 16, 2009 at 16:01

By Joe,

guus hiddink chelsea manager

Last game of the season for Chelsea at the Stamford Bridge and Blackburn are their final visitor of the 2008/09 year. Chelsea fans will also bid farewell to Manager Guus Hiddink as he have lead Chelsea in a good run in the latter stages of the season. Many Chelsea fans will want him to stay and start Chelsea’s championship challenge next season but this will be up to the Chelsea board to work their magic. Guus Hiddink can still win a trophy for Chelsea this season as they have secure a place in the final for the FA Cup at the end of the month. Chelsea will be happy to make all their players fit for the important tie against Everton.

Chelsea will not have Salomon Kalou available against Blackburn as he hurt his ankle in a friendly close door match against Manchester City. He will most likely be replaced by Mikel or Malouda in the midfield if Hiddink chooses to play a 4-4-2 formation. Michael Ballack, Juliano Belletti, Deco and Ricardo Carvalho are all doubtful and probably won’t feature against Blackburn. Chelsea has not lost to Blackburn in seven league and cup meetings and won six of those games. They have gone 10 home league games undefeated and Chelsea is guaranteed a third place this season.

Blackburn are currently in 14th place and with 40 points, is relatively safe from the drop zone. Things can still happen which would make Blackburn one of the candidates going down to the Championship. The likely hood of this is slim so we will have to see what kind of tactics Big Sam will deploy at Stamford Bridge. Blackburn lost the corresponding tie to Chelsea with 2-0 back in November. That day, Chelsea were the better team and outplayed Blackburn in many occasions. This might be a repeat as Blackburn is still without their strikers. Roque Santa Cruz and Jason Roberts are injured and still out. Defender Andre Ooijer is available after recovering from a hamstring. Good news is that Blackburn will probably stay in the Premiership.

Rovers secure their top flight status last weekend by beating Portsmouth. Chelsea has only the FA cup left to win. There is not much on the stake for this game and last year, this game ended goalless. A free flowing game might be witnessed on this Sunday late afternoon’s televised match. Blackburn will not be in full strength so expect an onslaught from Chelsea if they are in the mood to win, Ladbrokes is offering a home win at 1.28.

West Bromwich Albion vs. Liverpool

In Football on May 16, 2009 at 13:35

By Joe,

Depending on the result of the Manchester United vs. Arsenal game at Old Trafford on Saturday noon’s kickoff, this matchup can be either a decider for the title and West Brom status in the Premiership. Both teams are relying on other teams in the league to do them favors. West Brom need Middlesbrough, Newcastle and Hull City to lose this weekend to have any chance of avoiding the Championship. Liverpool need Arsenal to win at Old Trafford to reignite their chance in winning their 19th title.

West Brom has won and scored six goals in the last couple of home games. This is very impressive but maybe a bit too late as they are still at the bottom of the table. If they are to go down, then they are not going down quietly. With 2 games to go, it is very hard to see how West Brom will get out of this one. They need to win two games and hope the rest will faltered too. That is like asking Arsenal team to win the title. West Brom will be without James Morrison and Abdoulaye Meite due to injuries. Garham Dorran and Scott Carson will be pushing for a starting line up to help West Brom to fight the relegation drop.

Rafa Benitez will travel to West Brom with high spirits and with players in their good playing form. This week, Liverpool has seen their captain Steven Gerrard received the Writers’ association Footballer of the Year Award. Gerrard might be continuing his great form against West Brom and push Liverpool forward for next season’s Premiership title. Benitez will have Xabi Alonso available again. Torres had a little bit of scare with his occurring hamstring problem but he will be available. Javier Mascherano is fit to be included into the starting lineup. This game might be one of the last games for Sami Hyppia will be playing in a Liverpool shirt. If not the last game, his last away game for sure.

The Baggies has not beaten Liverpool for over 28 years. Last time these two teams met at Anfield, it ended with a 3-0 defeat to West Brom back in November. A repeat of this score line could pop up again this Sunday. Liverpool has scored more than 2 goals for the last 5 games so what do you think that will stop Liverpool for this general pattern? Not many will go against Liverpool on this one so have a look at Ladbrokes who is offering an away win at 1.40. Goodluck!
