Brazil vs. England

In Football, International Friendly on November 10, 2009 at 15:08

By Joe, www.Bettingexpert.com

Terry scored a late goal last time England met Brazil and drew 1-1.

Both teams have qualified for the World Cup so this friendly match will serve as a warm up match before the prestige summer tournament nears. This match is taken place in the desert of Qatar in the newly built stadium of Doha. This will be the first time that both nations will play a match in the Middle East and the venue set in a warm condition in winter season. The 50,000 seated Khalifa International Stadium will play host for the first time in their history to two future contenders for the World Cup.

Brazil Head Coach Dunga will not be taking this match lightly as he named a strong 24-man party to face England. He has taken a number of Brazil’s English-based players like Manchester City Robinho, Liverpool’s duo Fabio Aurelio and Luca while the several star players like Kaka, Daniel Alves, Luis Fabiano, Lucio, Diego and Hulk. Dunga has given a call up to Palermo Fabio Simplicio to replace thigh injury Benfica Rameries. Brazil is also contesting with Roma to release injured pair Doni and Juan.

Coach Fabio Capello has taken the opportunity to call up Sunderland striker, Darren Bent, Stephen Warnock and Tom Huddlestone to replace injured players to Rio Ferdinand, Steven Gerrard, Aaron Lennon and Carlton Cole. Another name missing from the English squad is David Beckham as he will miss the friendly after his team, LA Galaxy, reached the Major League Soccer Western Conference Final. Surprisingly, Capello have decided not to include former Liverpool players, Michael Owen and David James for the trip to Doha. Frank Lampard, Ashely Cole and Glen Johnsen have also withdrawn from the squad.

Many Managers, in the Premier League, are puzzled over the decision for England to play Brazil in a meaningless friendly in Doha affecting their player’s fitness. Never the less, the scene is set for a glorious matchup between two of the greatest football nations in the world. Their last meeting ended up 1-1 in the premiere of the Wembley Stadium. Brazil looks to be the stronger side of the two in this occasion.

World Cup: Ukraine vs. England

In Football, World Cup 2010 on October 7, 2009 at 10:41

By Joe, www.Bettingexpert.com

England to get their 9th win in Ukraine? Capello will be hoping the three lions will maintain their winning form.

England to get their 9th win in Ukraine? Capello will be hoping the three lions will maintain their winning form.

Is Fabio Capello going for that 10 out of 10 wins that would set him apart from all his predecessors as England Boss? England have great players but with the help of Capello, he has transfer England as a well respected team on or off the field. They sailed through the world cup group stages and now facing Ukraine away in one of their last two matches in the group. Capello does not look likely to loosen up until he has won the World Cup beating the three lions on his chest.

Ukraine knows what it will take to get themselves to the World Cup, two wins will guarantee a safe passage qualifying as second in the group. They are currently 3rd in the group with 15 points while Croatia have 17 points but with a match played more. Their final match in the group will be an away match against the minnows Andorra. Ukraine travels to London with Coach Oleksiy Mykhailychenko have called up Dynamo Kyiv defender Yevgen Khacheridi to the national team camp as Dmytro Chygrynskiy and Andriy Rusol are injured. Vitaliy Mandzyuk is suspended against England due to bookings.

The likes of Beckham, Barry, Couch or Upson could be well in a chance to feature in the starting lineup against Ukraine on Saturday. As undefeated with 8 win out of 8 matches, England does not look likely to surrender that good form and record. For that reason, Capello has selected a strong 23 man squad that might give a few household names a 45 minute in Ukraine. Lampard, Gerrard, Terry and Rooney looks likely to start but others are hoping that Capello will not go with the strict régime. The England squad has omitted players like Michael Owen, Jermain Defoe, Ben Foster, Theo Walcott and Premiership top scorer Darren Bent. England fans might see the return of David James in goal.

England are clear favorites to beat Ukraine. Last time these two teams met was back in April where England defeated Ukraine 2-1 in Wembley stadium. Ukraine knows that need points and they need to get some here to keep their World Cup dream alive. Check out Betsson as they are offering 3.25 for a draw between Ukraine and England.

World Cup Qualifer: England vs. Croatia

In Football, World Cup 2010 on September 6, 2009 at 21:53

By Joe, www.Bettingexpert.com

Rooney and co. is looking forward to secure their spot in next year's World Cup tournament in South Africa.

Rooney and co. is looking forward to secure their spot in next year's World Cup tournament in South Africa.

England could start booking their hotel for next summer in South Africa once they have beat Croatia this Wednesday evening. A win here for the three lions will extend their undefeated run in Group 6 to 8 wins out of 8 games played. Croatia will be putting up a fight to give themselves some hope in gaining the automatic qualifying spot for the World Cup. They must win to keep their hopes alive.

Coach Fabio Capello has an impeccable status in current World Cup campaign. He has guided the team to a 7 wins out of 7 matches played and looks to continue against Croatia in Wembley. He will have the same 24-man squad available to him that beat Slovenia in an unimpressed 2-1 win last weekend. He will have John Terry return  back to the starting lineup after receiving a knock during training. The Italian maestro gave goal keeper  Rob Green a rare outing between the sticks but David James look to return against Croatia. Jermain Defoe is giving Capello a selection dilemma as he continues his goal scoring form against Slovenia, although Emile Heskey is preferred to start.

Two years ago Croatia ended England’s road to the European Championship 2008, they could repeat this feature if they were to win again at Wembley. Croatia beat Belarus 1-0 in the World Cup qualifier match and that will take them into  2nd place in the group with 8 games played and 17 points. Coach Slaven Bilic must thank goal keeper Vedran Runje for pulling out some great saves during the game. Bilic will be without veteran Vedran Corluka, as he was sent off against Belarus, and Luka Modric. Croatia will have to dig deeper if they want a win at Wembley this time round.

Both teams won their respectful matches last weekend. This should be an interesting match and the top 2 teams in group five. Last time they met in Zagreb, England brushed Croatia aside with a 4-1 win so it will be interesting to see what Croatia will come up with. England are favorites and check out Betsson as they are offering 1.62 for a home win.

England vs. Slovenia

In Football, International Friendly on September 3, 2009 at 09:33

The partnership between Capello and Rooney have been flourishing and Slovenia could be the next victim.

The partnership between Capello and Rooney have been flourishing and Slovenia could be the next victim.

Slovenia will travel to Wembley to face England in a friendly game before their World Cup qualification ties next Wednesday. England needs this game to test a few players out before their crucial World Cup match against Croatia. Fabio Capello is eager to see some of his drafted players to put on a good show at Wembley and David Beckham could get a rare start.

Coach Fabio Capello named his 24-man squad for the games against Slovenia and Croatia last week. He gave call ups to goal keeper Ben Foster, Aaron Lennon, West Brown and Peter Crouch while there is no Michael Owen in the squad. Capello could be resting Wes Brown, John Terry and goal keeper Paul Robinson as they suffered knocks during training. Therefore, the Italian has drafted Bolton’s Gary Cahill as cover for the central defender role. England will have either Carlton Cole or Jermain Defoe partnering up with Wayne Rooney leading the attack.

Slovenia will provide England a stern test. They have played 7 games in their World Cup qualifier group stage and won 3 games, lost 2 and drawn 2. They sit firmly third in the group with 11 points and a chance to make it to the World Cup. The Slovenia team will bring around 3,000 fans to London and hopefully creating a friendly atmosphere.

England will be taking this game lightly as they will want their squad to be fully fit for Wednesday’s game against Croatia. Capello will make 6 changes during the game so expect a few adjustments along the way. In this case, Slovenia could benefit from England tactical changes and a draw on the night can’t be ruled out. Check Betsson as they are offering 6.10 for a draw.

Chelsea FC vs Hull City

In Barclays Premiership League, Football on August 13, 2009 at 14:05

By Joe, www.Bettingexpert.com

Chelsea Football Club

The first match of the season of the Premiership will see Chelsea take on Hull City at Stamford Bridge at a noon kick off game. The host is mounting up to a Premiership challenge this season and Chelsea have brought in a new manager to fulfill the demand of winning the League title. Hull City will once again find themselves fighting for survival in the Premiership as they only avoid relegation on the last day of play last season.

Chelsea won the Community Shield on penalties after 2-2 in the regular time against Manchester United at Wembley Stadium. New manager Carlo Ancelotti has started off well in keeping the legacy, in which Chelsea will not go through a season trophyless. Ancelotti has put tremendous belief into his squad as he has only strengthened the team with new arrivals of Yuri Zhirkov and Daniel Sturridge. Chelsea will need to make a fast start in the Premiership to cement that they are going to be in this title race for the long haul.

After being successful in avoiding the drop last season, Hull City has done some major facelift to their squad. Coach Phil Brown has recruited Steven Mouyokolo from Boulongne, Seyi Olofinjana and Jozy Altidore, while Sam Ricketts has left Hull for Bolton. If Hull starts out similar to what they presented in the first half of the last season, then they could potentially avoid relegation. However, if they start out playing what they did in the second of last season, winning one out of the final 22 Premier League games then they are deemed for the drop. It really depends on how Hull City starts out in the season and facing Chelsea away is a difficult task.

Ancelotti inherited a strong disciplined team and the key players have come out signing new contracts to prove their belief in the new Italian coach. There is pressure on Chelsea to win their game at Stamford Bridge and to win the Premiership title, but something that they are not a stranger to, check out Betsson as they are offering 1.22 for a Chelsea home win.

Holland vs England

In Football, International Friendly on August 10, 2009 at 21:43

By Joe, www.Bettingexpert.com

Holland First Team

The English players will start their season by travelling to Amsterdam to face Holland in a midweek friendly clash. The Premier League season has not even started and many of the English players will have to get their first game playing for their nation. The Dutch season has already started but for the foreign based Dutch players, they will get their first game on their belt in the friendly match. Both teams will be fielding a strong starting lineup.

The Oranje camp will feature without their veteran goal keeper, Edwin Van De Saar, as he is out after receiving surgery to his right hand. He will be replaced by either Maarten Stekenburg or Michael Vorm in goal. New appointed Dutch Coach Bert van Marwijk has named 4 England based players in his 21 man squad. Liverpool duo Dirk Kuyt and Ryan Babel have been selected alongside Arsenal’s Robin van Persie and Nigel de Jong of Manchester City. While former England based players, Andre Oojer and Arjen Robben could also feature in the starting lineup. Giovanni van Bronkhorst is the only absentee of the original selected 22 man squad, as he is struggling with a knee injury. Holland hves already qualified for the World Cup 2010 so therefore van Marwijk will be testing some players out in order to get a clear idea of his squad for next year’s tournament.

Coach Fabio Capello has picked his 23 man squad for the highly competitive match against the Dutch team at Amsterdam Arena. There are a few surprises as Peter Crouch and Michael Owen are not picked, while the Italian has named Wayne Rooney, Emile Heskey, Jermain Defoe and Carlton Cole as the 4 strikers to provide the goals. The midfield sees a few familiar faces as the likes of Beckham, Gerrard, Lampard, Barry and Carrick. They are first pick for the starting line up on the night. The back four could see Ferdinand, Cole, Johnsen and Terry guarding the rear. David James has been left out due to an injury and therefore United’s Ben Foster, West Ham United’s Robert Green and Blackburn Rovers’ Paul Robinson will compete for the goalkeeper position. Capello is looking to quickly restore the English confidence with a victory against Holland. It is also anticipated that Capello will be rotating the squad during half time.

A minute of silence will be held to commemorate the life of Sir Bobby Robson as a he managed both places, in England and Holland football. This friendly match will serve both coaches an insight of how their players are reacting after a long summer vacation. Even though it is a friendly match, it will be a tough one as both teams are highly rated in the Fifa ranking.  The Dutch team are unbeaten in 10 games while England has scored 16 goals in 4 games. A draw would be suitable for this occasion and Betsson is offering odds 3.20 for a draw.

Npower Ashes Test Series 2009 – England vs. Australia

In Cricket, The Ashes on July 8, 2009 at 00:39

By Joe, http://www.Bettingexpert.com

npowertesttheahses

The Ashes is one of the most celebrated international rivalries in cricket and this rivalry dates all the way back to 1882. The winner of the Npower Ashes Test Series 2009 will have the luxury of keeping the tiny Ashes urn (picture below). This tournament is held every second year and it was last held in Australia. The 2009 Ashes will see Australia travel to England to defend the title. England and Australia will be battling out for the Ashes trophy in the next 6 weeks.

theashesurn

The Schedule:

1st test match – July 8 to July 12, Cardiff

2nd test match – July 16 to July 20, Lord’s

3rd test match – July 30 to August 3, Edgbaston

4th test match – August 7 to August 11, Headingley

5th test match – August 20 to August 24, Brit Oval

England will be hosting the Ashes’s first test match against Australia in Sophia Gaden, Cardiff. England is currently ranked 5th in the cricket world and they will be led by captain Andrew Strauss. He has picked out a few experienced players to join him to battle it out with Australia and some of the players, he has picked, have won the 2005 Ashes with him. England’s key players, Freddie Flintoff, Monty Panesar and Kevin Pietersen are the ones to watch. England will want to win the Ashes in front of the British crowd.

Australia is ranked number 1 in the world of Cricket. They are favorites to win the series as they won it, two years ago. Australia will not be able to use their best players, Brett Lee and Shane Watson, for their first test match against England. Lee recently picked up a rib injury. Coach Ricky Ponting expects a tight series against England. Australia has brought a weaken side to England but the Aussie will still come out with a battling face.

Four years ago, England beat Australia for the first time in 18 years to win the Ashes.  The nation went into frenzy mode after the victory. They are hoping to repeat the famous win in 2005 as they did not perform well in 2007 against Australia. Cardiff will suit the England spinners and that could just be the start of an epic battle between these two nations.

Check out Ladbrokes as they have England to win the series at odds 2.75.

England U21 vs. Germany U21 Final

In England, Football on June 28, 2009 at 21:55

By Joe, http://www.Bettingexpert.com

stuart pearce England Germany U21 Final

The England U21 have been impressive at the Under 21 European Championship in Sweden. They will be facing the Germany’s Under 21 at Malmo for the Under-21 Championships trophy.  England beat host nation, Sweden on penalties after letting slip a 3-0 half time lead to reach the final. Germany beat Italy 1-0 in their semifinals to reach the finals. Both teams are on form and once again the international rivalry between the two countries continues.

England led by former national player, Stuart Pearce is seeking victory over the German rivals to cement his first trophy in his managerial career. Stuart Pearce led England to the final for the first time since 1984, when England beat Spain 3-0. He will have some headaches over his selection of the starting lineup, since goal keeper Hart and striker Agbonlahor both picked up second yellow cards in the semifinal win over Sweden. Forward Frazier Campbell was also sent off in extra-time. In the absence of Agbonlahor and Campbell,  Theo Walcott is expected to play as a central striker. Pearce will also have to decide whether Joe Lewis or Scott Loach will play in goal.

Germany, who drew 1-1 with England in the group stages, are looking to go one better this time around. Coach Hrubesch was delighted over the win against 1-0 Italy in the semifinal and keeping their third consecutive clean sheet. Hrubesch will have to play against England without suspended Ashkan Dejagah and Marko Marin. Striker Sandro Wagner and Captain Sami Khedira will be part of the starting lineup.

It is hard to say who the favorites are for this Under 21 European Championship Finals. Both teams played each other and that ended up in a tie. It wouldn’t be surprising if this game went into extra time. Therefore, with that in mind Ladbrokes is offering odds at 3.00 for a draw after 90 minutes of regular play.
