Premier League: Liverpool vs. Arsenal

In Barclays Premiership League, Football on December 10, 2009 at 08:50

By Joe, www.Bettingexpert.com

The battle of the best midfielders in England will meet on Sunday at Anfield

One of the big ties this weekend in the Premiership and Liverpool will be hosting Arsenal at Anfield Sunday afternoon.  Liverpool are struggling to live up to their name of being one of the Big 4 this season, on the other hand Arsenal is having some injuries issue after start well in the Premier League. Loser of this match could spell the end to the title spur this season.

Liverpool are desperate for three points and with a squad close to full strength again, manager Rafa Benitez could be in for a chance to get his team back on the Premiership campaign. Benitez gave Italian midfielder Alberto Aquilani his full debut in the midweek  2-1 defeated against Fiorentina. He rested Jose Reina and Lucas while Fernando Torres returned from injury by sitting on the bench. It’s no surprise that Liverpool’s main focus will be the Premiership and the match against Arsenal will prove whether they are capable in returning to the top of the Premier League

Arsenal are hanging by the thread with their injury crisis as they prepare their trip to Anfield. The Gunners travelled to Olympiakos and lost 1-0 in the midweek Champions League tie without several of their key players, only Theo Walcott was name as one of the senior members of the 10 teenagers selected. The kids managed to put out a good performance and you might wonder where they will be in a few years time. Manger Arsene Wenger is already suffering from 9 injuries to his first team squad and Tomas Rosicky is the latest name on the list. It will be a taunting task for Arsenal facing one of their main rivals in the League with a depleted team.

As Liverpool crashed out of the Champions League this midweek while Arsenal emerges victory over the rivals in the European campaign this season. Arsenal will also claim victory over Liverpool in the Premiership standing and also in the Carling Cup 2-1 win back in late October. Although, things are set to change, Liverpool have their strongest players back from injuries while Arsenal are losing their players to injuries left and right. Maybe Arsenal have been the strongest lately but Liverpool looks likely to win at all cost on Sunday.

Carling Cup: Manchester City vs. Arsenal

In Carling Cup, Football on November 30, 2009 at 19:46

Adebayor created all the headlines for the wrong reason in the recent tie. Could he be back with some more?

Midweek football and this time it’s the quarterfinals for the Carling Cup. Arsenal will travel to Manchester City Wednesday evening in order to fight it out for a place in the semifinal. Both sides have recently distant themselves from the Premiership title and it looks likely they will have to find some silverware this season elsewhere.

Manchester City reached the quarterfinals by beating Scunthorpe 5-1 at home in the last round. A few of their key players played that night, Stephan Ireland, Carlos Tevez and Lescott were presented that night. Manager Mark Hughes will most likely deploy a more or less first eleven with a few bench players given a rare start like Roque Santa Cruz. The Saudi own club wants to win all the silverware they can get this season and the League Cup could be their realistic target for now.

The Gunners will have to find their spirits in order to overcome one of the richest clubs in England. They lost 3-0 in the weekend to Chelsea at the Emirates and the title hopes could have also dashed as Manager Arsene Wenger further complained about his injury list causalities. Wenger will be sticking to his policy in fielding his youngest so expect players like Vela, Eduardo, Denilson, Walcott, Ramsey and Fabianksi to start. Arsenal excels in the Carling Cup and they can’t be underestimated in this competition. There will be no Van Persie, Clichy, Sagna, Bendtner, Gibbs or Diaby.

The dilemma lies with Manchester City’s boss, does he field a strong team and get embarrassed by Arsenal under-18 team or field a weaker side and lose to the Gunners? Arsenal beat Liverpool 2-1 to get the quarterfinals so whoever Wenger fields on the day could well do the job. The Gunners youngsters are well hungry for some silverware and the question for the City, are you? The last time these two teams met in the Carling Cup at the Manchester City stadium, Arsenal won 2-1 and advance through to the next round.

Premier League: Arsenal vs. Chelsea

In Barclays Premiership League, Football on November 25, 2009 at 11:38

By Joe, www.Bettingexpert.com

Could there be another brawl at the Emirates? The London derby is one of the most heated matches in Premier League.

From the Merseyside derby to the London derby, it is sure a Super Sunday for all the Football fans in the world. The London derby will be an interesting one as it could determine where the Premiership will go this season. Chelsea are leading the table and if they win at the Emirates then it would be a two legged horse race between the blues and Manchester United. Arsenal will have to dig deep to avoid this.

The North side of London will be contesting for the top spots in the Premier League. They are currently third in the league and eight points behind their London rival, Chelsea, at the top. Many have doubted Arsene Wenger’s kid this season but it seems like they are finding their stride. They reached the last 16 of the Champions League in the midweek after beating Standard Liege 2-0 at home. The French manager will be happy to put away another London rival at the Emirates after disposing Tottenham with 3-0. Wenger is concerned over the injuries of Kieran Gibbs, Andrey Arshavin and William Gallas. Gibbs is out after needing a metatarsal surgery while Gallas has an ankle injury.  Theo Walcott and Samir Nasir are set to play a role in the London derby.

Leading the Premiership with 5 points to the closest rival, qualify for the last 16 in the Champions League and playing at the top of their form, could Chelsea continue their winning streak without Frank Lampard? Chelsea have depth in the squad and that could bring the Premiership title back to Stamford Bridge since 2006. Manager Carlo Ancelotti has inherited a good bunch of players and now managing them looks simple. Ancoletti will be without Frank Lampard and Jose Bosingwa for the London derby. Michael Ballack and Deco are set to return to the starting lineup while Essien and Drogba are back after complains over receiving knocks in the midweek.

Massive brawl whenever these two teams meet and it will not be the last of it. Chelsea have the upper advantage going into this match, they beat Arsenal twice, 4-1 in the Premier League and 2-1 in the FA Cup at the Emirates Stadium. Arsene Wenger will be desperate to claim one over the Chelsea team as he wants to close the gap between them. A stalemate could be reached but without the inspirational Frank Lampard, anything can happen.

Premier League: Arsenal vs. Tottenham

In Barclays Premiership League, Football on October 29, 2009 at 11:20

By Joe, www.Bettingexpert.com

The London derby between Arsenal and Tottenham will go into new heights as both teams are challenge for a top spot in the Premier League.

The north London derby between Arsenal and Tottenham is one of the fiercest rivalries in the Premiership. Arsenal will be hosting their north London counterparts in the Emirates Stadium in a Saturday early afternoon kickoff. This year both teams are on the top of the table and they will fight it out for a place in the top of the league to challenge for Premiership title.

Arsenal have made a great start to their season in all fronts. In the midweek, they finished off Liverpool in the Carling Cup winning 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium. It was virtually their second team who played but key members like Nicklas Bendter, who got the winner against Liverpool, Samir Nasri, Eduardo and Senderos got a run out. Manager Arsene Wenger will certainly re-call his usual starting eleven and hope to keep up with the pace -setters, Chelsea. Jack Wilshere , Theo Walcott, Denilson, Fabianski  and Tomas Rosicky are all ruled out to face Spurs.

Tottenham started their Premiership campaign fast and furious but last weekend, their 2-1 defeat to Stoke City at White Hart Lane put them back down on their feet. They are currently fourth in the Premier League level on points with Arsenal at 14. However, Arsenal have a better goal score. Spurs beat Everton 2-0 in the Carling Cup with Robbie Keane and Tom Huddlestone on the mark. They will certainly bring on their key players back for the short travel to the Emirates. Defoe is suspended for this game while Woodgate and Lennon are doubtful. Giovani and Modric will definitely not feature in the squad.

Last time these two teams met in a Premiership match at the Emirates, it ended 4-4 and 1-1 in 2008. Arsenal have a 100% win at the Emirates and could Tottenham go there to break this record?  Expect this derby match to go all crazy with red cards and goals. Arsenal are weak favorites at home against Spurs.

Another clash between Wenger and Benitez in the League Cup and only one will go through.

Another clash between Wenger and Benitez in the League Cup and only one will go through.

League Cup action this midweek and old foes will be meeting up at the Emirates. Liverpool will travel to North London to meet the Gunners in the League Cup quarterfinals. Both teams have different priorities over the tournament, Arsenal looks toward their youngster to shine and they usually deliver while Liverpool will certainly put on their fringe players after they poor run in both Premier League and Champions League.

If there was one cup that Arsenal have a good chance in every year then it’s surely the League Cup. It’s the way they approach this tournament by using mainly their hungry youngsters who are eagerly to grow up. Their youngsters have sheer quality too and no matter which players Arsene Wenger put on, they will certainly do well for the team. Some key players could be spare on Wednesday, while goal keeper, Almunia, Gibbs, Ramsey, Bendtner and Nasri could be well in the contention to start against Liverpool.

Liverpool ended their 4 consecutive defeats in all competitions by rounding their arch rivals, Manchester United, 2-0 at home last Sunday. It could be a sign of better form to come but Rafa Benitez knows this is certainly one of his least prioritized tournaments and most likely give several key players the night off or at least from the bench. Expect players like Daniel Ngog, Ryan Babel, Aurelio, Dossena, Plessis and Voronin to travel to London. Benitez will do his best with the team available but certainly will not risk his key players, like Gerrard, Torres, Kuyt or Johnsen, just for this tie. Javier Mascherano is suspended for this match.

Arsenal are left frustrated after slipping in West Ham and Alkmaar for not finishing the matches off, settling for a draw in both occasion. Liverpool could well use this weakness to land further progression in this tournament. If Van Persie plays then watch out as his form is excellent, scoring 6 goals in 5 matches. Last time these two teams met in the League cup, Arsenal ran out 6-3 winner at Anfield and expect another high scoring match. Check out Betsson as they are offering Arsenal to win at odds 2.15.

Premier League:West Ham vs. Arsenal

In Barclays Premiership League, Football on October 21, 2009 at 10:36

Arsenal beat West Ham at Upton Park 2-0 last time they met.

Arsenal beat West Ham at Upton Park 2-0 last time they met.

The London derby between West Ham and Arsenal will take place at Upton Park on Sunday afternoon. West Ham does not usually fare well in the local derbies and this might just be up the alley for Arsenal to get their precise three points in the chase of the Premiership title. West Ham are struggling at the bottom of the table and they really need the points to lift themselves up away from the relegation zone.

The East London team are currently 19th in the Premier League and their home form has been the reason why they are at the bottom. They have yet to win at Upton Park and the Hammers have already incurred two defeats and one draw this season at home. Manager Gianfranco Zola might be up for the chop if he doesn’t get his team winning again. Matthew Upson will be ready for the match against Arsenal as he appeared to be punch last Saturday against Stoke by Robert Huth.

Arsenal is currently fourth in the league and looks to claim a spot in the last 16 in the Champions League. Manager Arsene Wenger does his job quietly and definitely better when not under pressure and this show in their results. The Gunners are looking to close the gap between them, Manchester United and Chelsea. They drew 1-1 in Holland in the midweek against AZ Alkmaar. Arsenal will be without their winger Theo Walcott as he is out for four weeks with a damage knee ligament. Nicklas Bendtner and Eduardo are ruled doubtful traveling to Upton Park while Samir Nasri and goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski are continuing their fitness with the reserves. Wenger will be happy to see Tomas Rosicky and Gael Clichy returning to his starting lineup.

The statistic shows that Arsenal are likely to win at Upton Park as they have done this in the past two seasons. The last time West Ham won against Arsenal at home was back in 2006 and with current situation; West Ham looks likely to salvage a point than taking all three. A close match with lots of drama but the score line will be kept to a minimum of one or two goals, so check out Betsson as they are offering Arsenal to win at 1.53.

Manchester United vs Arsenal

The first Big 4 to compete this season and both teams are looking to win at Old Trafford

The first Big 4 to compete this season and both teams are looking to win at Old Trafford

This is the tie between the Big 4 in the Premiership. This is one of the most anticipated ties of the season and Arsenal will travel to the Old Trafford to face off against Manchester United. Both teams did not have a midweek tie so they are both well rested ahead of this mouth watering tie. Last time these two met at Old Trafford, Manchester United won courtesy of an O’Shea goal in their quest to retain the title.

The reigning champion has got their winning ways back after crushing Wigan 5-0 away last weekend. They came out against Wigan all guns blazing where Wayne Rooney registered his 100th and 101st goal for Manchester United. Michael Owen also scored one as he opened his account for the Red half of the Manchester. Sir Alex Ferguson was much happier with his team as they passing and movements were more direct and lethal. He goes into the game against Arsenal a happy man and might there be some mind games between him and Arsene Wenger? The team is also happy to see the return of N. Vidic in the central defense while Rio Ferdinand will not be ready for the tie.

Many might have written off Arsenal to challenge for the title this year but with 2 games and 2 wins, they are well in it. A victory for Arsenal could spell some speculations whether Manchester United is fit to retain the Premiership for the third time. Coach Arsene Wenger must be happy with the way his team is performing, 10 goals in 2 games is an absolutely the ideal start for any team. They might have lost their front men to the transfer but they have bought well as defender Thomas Vermaelen has already scored two goals. Arsenal’s game is so pleasing to the eye, Wenger could see an upset at Old Trafford this weekend. The only concern for the Frenchmen is that captain Cesc Fabregas is doubtful against Manchester United with a hamstring.

On any given day, Manchester United would be weak favorites to win at home against Arsenal. Although with Arsenal scoring at alarming rate, there is no doubt that the North London team will go to Old Trafford without fear and play football. In that case, it will be an exciting match where loads of attacking football and defense error will be on display. Check out the odds for a draw as Betsson is offering at 3.25.

Emirates Cup 2009

arsene-wenger-arsenal

Following the huge success of the two previous held Emirates Cup in 2007 and 2008, Arsenal Football Club have invited Glasgow Rangers, Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid for the Emirates Cup 2009. The Emirates Cup 2009 will take place in the Emirates Stadium over a 2 day period where two matches will be played each day. The tournament is decided in a group stage where all teams will play each other once.

Arsenal:

The host has a few changes to their lineup this upcoming season. The team have lost Emmanuel Adebayor to Manchester City for £25 million and Samir Nasri will be out for a certain period of time, breaking his leg. Coach Arsene Wenger has bought in Thomas Vermaelen for £10 million and Havard Nordtveit is on loan from Lillestrom. He will be happy to see Tomas Rosicky and Eduardo back in the squad after a lengthy period because of injury. This tournament will be the first few teams that will give Arsenal some competition. Arsenal won this tournament in 2007 but finished only 3rd in 2008.

Atletico Madrid:

The Spanish team do not have a competitive competition until the end of the August month in the Spanish league but is aiming to keep in shape for the Champions League qualifier. The team have recently participated in the Amsterdam tournament. It is most likely that Atletico Madrid will take the tournaments they enter seriously and fully committed in reaching match fitness. Coach Abel Resino has acquired Javier Cantero de la Puente into his current squad.

Paris Saint-Germain:

The French outfits finished sixth in the Ligue 1 last season. They will enter the Europa League group stages while preparing for the Ligue 1 season that will start on the 8th. One new arrival, Coach Antoine Kombouare has taken the charge of the Parisian team and looks to improve PSG performance after last year’s disappointment. Defender Papus Camara will not be travelling to London as he will be out for 3 months with a calf injury.  Peguy Luyindula was tops corer for the 2007 Emirates Cup as PSG finished 2nd in the group.

 Rangers:

The reigning Scottish champions will certainly bring a huge backing to the Emirates Stadium. Rangers have recently returned from touring Germany where they played two matches against Nuremburg and SC Wiedenbruck. Coach Walter Smith and assistant Coach, Ally McCoist have high hopes for their current squad eventhough there has been no purchasing took place in the summer. They will take this competition as a warm up to the SPL season start against Falkirk on 15th August.

There might not be much of reward in winning this tournament but as the season starts and it is  getting near, all teams will be very competitive to show their managers that they will be fighting for the first team start. Pride is definitely on stake and Arsenal knows that since they didn’t win last year’s Emirates Cup. Of all the teams at the tournament, Atletico Madrid could win the tournament based on their match fitness and their squad experience. Ladbrokes is offering 4.50 for Atletico Madrid to win.
