Last time they met, Chelsea won 1-0 in the FA Cup. What will happen in the Carling Cup?

The Carling Cup is back and we start our coverage with Chelsea hosting QPR at Stamford Bridge this Wednesday evening. The Carling Cup has been a tournament tradition where most of the Premiership teams giving their their youngsters a chance to play competitive football in the first team. It is expected that Chelsea would field their youngsters while QPR will be sending out their best.

Chelsea is top of the Premier League with 6 wins out of 6 matches played. Chelsea Italian Coach, Carlo Ancelotti, has really got the Blues playing some eccentric attacking football and he hopes that their form will continue in the Carling Cup. Ancelotti  will be without Didier Drogba and Michael Essien. Ancelotti could be sending out players like Daniel Sturridge, Fabio Borini, Yurt Zhirkov and Juliano Belletti.

QPR could cause an upset against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge because QPR have done well in the past in the Carling Cup. Last year, they beat Aston Villa 1-0 away in the third round and crashed out of the tournament to eventual finalist Manchester United 1-0 away in the fourth round. QPR are currently 12th in the Coca-Cola League Championship and they won their match against 2-0 against Cardiff away in the weekend. Their key players are Routledge and Simpson and they will have to turn up their game if QPR wants to go through to the next round.

Chelsea beat QPR last year in the FA cup 1-0 and that might suit ideally suit Ancelotti and chelsea fans. QPR is on a quest to muscle with the Premiership teams and this is their chance. There is a chance that the match could go  into extra time and Betsson is offering odds 5.75 for a draw.
