Group B of the Fifa Confederation Cup in South Africa will get underway on the 15th of June in Manguaung/Bloemfontein between Brazil and Egypt. Group B comprises of the Champions from CAF Africa Cup, World Cup, CONCACAF Gold Cup and Copa America. All of these teams will compete against each other for the two spots available in Group B and will have to face the other semifinalist in Group A.

Group B is a tough group compared to Group A. It has two of the best teams in the world competing for the top the top spot. Brazil will meet Italy on the last day of the group stages which could settle their fate and the others in the group. Egypt and USA are not pushovers by far. They will play their best as the world is watching them.

Brazil gained entry to this competition by winning their second consecutive continental title in the Copa America. They won the Fifa Confederation Cup twice in 1997 and 2005. Former National World Cup winner and currently the Brazilian Coach, Dunga will be looking for a third trophy to place them in the history as the most successful national winning team of the Fifa Confederation Cup.

Egypt, 2008 CAF Africa Cup of Nations winner, apart from the host nation is the other African representative. They won the 26th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations by beating Cameroon 1-0 in the final. Coach Hassan Shehata will hope that Egypt will win a few admirers in the Fifa Confederation Cup.

USA, winners of the 2008 CONCACAF Gold Cup, will be mounting an assault in South Africa. They were impressive against Mexico in the final and also in the previous Fifa Confederation Cup. Coach Bob Bradley will want his team to demonstrate their abilities to compete with the other rich football nations.

The current World Cup Winner, Italy, will also be involved at the Fifa Confederation Cup. As the reigning world champions, they qualify automatically for this competition. They are also the second side to represent Europe in South Africa. Coach Marcello Lippi will bring his tactical genius play to the game.

Two, favorites in this strongly contested Group B, both Brazil and Italy are favorites to go through to the semifinals. However, Egypt and USA will certainly put on a brave fight. This group is more interesting as all of them possess different qualities and different winning methods. Although all neutrals would want the skillful Brazilians to be somewhere in the final run, that is most likely to happen here as Ladbrokes are offer Brazil 1.72 as group winners and 2.75 for winning the tournament.
