Aston Villa vs. Hull City

By Joe,

Survival of the fittest is what Hull City is facing in their last 4 games of the season. This is their first season ever in the Premiership and surviving the relegation zone will be a great achievement. Those who bet on Hull to go down, you might have to wait for the last day of the season to see whether they would go down.

Hull City is currently 17th with 34 points, 3 points away from Newcastle and Middleborough. Middleborough will be facing Manchester United and Newcastle will face Liverpool at Anfield. As Hull plays their game on Monday night they will have the advantage of knowing where they stand in the league prior to their game. Manager Phil Brown will be without the suspended Hull striker Caleb Folan and Daniel Cousin could replace him in the starting lineup. Defender Andy Dawson could set to boost the team with his return to the side after suffering a back injury.

Villa has not been performing to their potential and after losing their 4th place status to Arsenal, enters April, things has not gone the way Martin O’Neill would have wanted. They were in a position where they were challenging Arsenal for the fourth place but currently they are 5th in the league with 55 points. 10 points away from Arsenal. Villa has lost their good form and this has seen them drop out from a Champions League spot to a UEFA cup spot. This has hit hard on the team’s spirit and Villa hasn’t been as effective on the pitch compared to their form earlier on the season. O’Neill could call up Luke Young, Nigel Reo-Coker and Gabriel Agboblahor this Monday night. All eyes will be on Emile Heskey to continue his lethal physical power to guide Villa on the score sheets.

Villa is on their longest winless run for two years of nine games. They have drawn their last three games while Hull is desperate for points. On paper, it looks like an easy win for Villa as the table will show it’s a top against bottom tie. But don’t get tricked, Hull is desperate and they will pull out anything just to get points on the day and I don’t see why they can’t extend Villa’s drawing streak to four. Have a look at Ladbrokes as they are offering 3.60 for a draw.
